Best single-season record?

What's the best single season record that you've seen in a MLB season? I'm starting in 1902, and the Pirates are running away with it-- in mid-July, they are 68-14, for a .829 winning percentage. All four starters have ERA's below 1.80 and WHIP's below 1. They've also scored nearly 100 more runs than any other team in the NL.

(I'm not playing with them - I'm scuffling along with Cleveland, but their record is too good not to notice).

The Pirates were good IRL in that timeframe. I want to say they won the WS a few times. But, I don't think they did as well as what you're seeing. Wow.

Of course, since I first posted this, they've now gone into a 14-19 tailspin... They're still up 18 games at the end of August.

The 1969 Orioles went 113-49 in my current league. Off the top of my head, that's the best I've seen. Had a 10-game drop to 103-59 the next season. Won the World Series both seasons.

I am just simming in my ABF till 2000. Not managing any team. The 1979 Chicago Hitmen went 118-44 .728. That the best record for 162 games.
1956 Atlanta Rebels went 117-37 .760 in 154 games.The lost the Championship.

The 1954 Cleveland Indians (111-43) send their condolences (0-4 in the World Series).

And the 2001 Mariners (116-46) find it hard to muster the sympathy as they didn't even make it to the WS.
