And that WP on an IBB is why you don't just get to announce IBB like it is 14U.

That ninth inning might be what the terms "bananas" and "bonkers" were invented for.

what an at-bat by eibner. wow, professionally stayed in there and I was half expecting the game to be won off a wild pitch, but he got that hit.

I had my two cents on Eibner getting hit in the ribs, but the effect would have been the same.

so baseball prospectus projects the Royals to finish out the season 54-61, worse than they project the Twins

You can't go with computer nerds. Some folks (I love OOTP) have objected to me saying that for years giving me the "aren't we past that yet?" but the facts are that baseball is played by athletes, not on computers. Can market inefficiencies be found and exploited? Yes. Does that help you compete if you're the one doing the exploitation of inefficiencies you find? Sure. Is that how you win actual baseball games? Nope. It doesn't work in predicting winning. I think WAR, VORP are fun stats, but that's it. I think PECOTA and ZIPS are stupid if anyone thinks they project anything close to approximating how good a team will be. The back of the baseball card is what says most of it for players... And by the same token, the back of a TEAM'S baseball card does the same for the team.. My $.02.
Anyway, that's not why I came to post.... I came to put this here because I totally get Avila. What else is poor Alex Avila supposed to say? "Well, when you've got a pitcher who seriously came a hair from throwing five or six wild pitches on intentional walks, what are you gonna do?" Here's his actual quote: "I wouldn't say I'm shocked or surprised we didn't win that game," Avila said. "I've seen comebacks like that. There's not a whole lot that surprises me. You have to make sure you're prepared for things like that. But, at the same time, I'm absolutely upset that we didn't win." Last edited by Airdrop01; 05-28-2016 at 09:34 PM. |

Also I just read the Sox decided not to push back Sale after today's game. They're gonna start him tomorrow afternoon. I'd say that's just about AWESOME. They're a bit freaked....

This is exactly the demoralizing defeat we needed to take to the Sox. We did it to Minnesota, just telling them, "Hey, you've had your fun but we're still top dogs here."

I went back after work just now and watched the game again. Duffy was filthy. He gets his stamina up and does this it'll be amazing.

Bad time for the Tribe to catch KC. You guys are hot and we are tepid at best. I noticed the Saturday game is the national FOX broadcast. Good to see some national pub for 2 smaller market teams.
