Are injuries supposed to be listed in the boxscore?

I just noticed this in a game when the AI pulled the goalie after the second period leading 4-1. I use the all shots setting so if it is commented in the full PBP may have not seen it there. Just seems the player should not have to go all the way to the player page to hunt down the fact that he is out now due to hamstring injury. This should really be in the boxscore IMO.

I agree, players leaving the game due to injury should be mentioned in the boxscore.

It's something we *could* add (and we will discuss), but if you look at any box score, whether that's for the NHL, AHL, CHL, KHL, etc, Box scores do not mention injuries on it.

Box scores tell you statistics. They tell you total saves, goals, assists, penalty minutes, etc. Everything that the FHM2 Box Score does tell you. Although not an exact science, you can pre-determine whether or not an injury has occurred before you leave a game as you can see by Time on the Ice, ie: If your #1 Defenceman only played 9 minutes, he probably got injured.

Even at that, the game alerts you to a players injury as soon as you try to advance the day. That's quite helpful (to me at least, and I'm assuming others) when an injury occurs.

Re-reading the comment, you will usually see in the PBP if a player is pulled from the game if you have the right commentary on. Each commentary is different though, so sometimes things may get jumped over for the sake of time. If you let the whole game play out, it takes close to an hour, whereas something like Action Condensed takes closer to 10 minutes. Somewhere content has to be cut.

OK so if not in the boxscore how about in the shot commentary on the game screen. Just something simple like player x leaves due to injury. Likely/unlikely to return. This seems as if it could have strategic significance, no?

I'm sorry. I wasn't hating on the FHM boxscores. I think they're great (and I wish I could export them to a file). I am just (unfairly) comparing them to the OOTP boxscore which does give injury information.

I am not hating on anything either. I am enjoying FHM immensely. I am just a newbie with a question. I accept that if they pattern the boxscore on real world equivalents and want to keep it that way , they should.

We're planning on re-working the injury system in FHM3. Better reporting about the exact circumstances of an injury will be part of that, but there may be a bit of an inherent conflict between giving you the exact details right away and adding a little more (realistic) uncertainty about the exact nature of an injury. But maybe a note on the boxscore that "Player X left the game at 8:30 of the second period and did not return" would be a reasonable balance.

My revised thinking is perhaps not the boxscore but in the gamescreen. I originally said boxscore simply because I check it between periods. However thinking in terms of coaching a game I would not know this. I would see a player hobble off the ice. I would not know the specific injury but may have an idea if he should return, be out for a period or the game. I might adjust tactics based on this info.

I realize that I might be a minority even coaching and of that a minority using the all shots setting. So I appreciate you even considering this. It is that I find this setting so much fun in representing the flow of hockey. I have everything I need on the screen, line changes, shots, penalties, game stats. The only thing I can think of missing in terms of useful info is players being unavailable for whatever time period. Otherwise great job as far as the game UI. I will still enjoy this game either way.

While I wouldn't anticipate it being in the box score, it would be nice seeing it as a "game note" when a goalie change or injury occurred somewhere in the recap anyway. Just so you got a general idea of when something happened that's out of the ordinary, or even having a clear indication of what goalie got the decision in a game (especially confusing when there's a change in goalies, and then you don't know which one took the loss or got the win.)
