Double Headers

Is there a way to call up a 26th player for days you have a double header? If so are there any special rules for calling them up or sending them down?

No, there isn't, as that rule is not recreated in OOTP.

After the first game of the double header, go to the catcher's player page. From the "Available Actions" menu on the right, select "Set Game Strategy"

On the bottom right of that screen, there's a box labeled "Bench Player for X Days". Put a 1 in that box, then hit enter. He won't play the next game at all.

What happens if the back up catcher gets injured in the next game?

Then you're stuffed

An alternative would be to use 7-day lineups to ensure one catcher starts one game of the DH, and the other catcher starts the other game.

This does not work because the 7-day lineup screen does not show both games of the doubleheader. It shows one lineup which will be used for both games if you have 7-day lineups enabled.

The only fool-proof way I've found is to start the game as if I'm going to manage it, switch control of lineups to me instead of the AI, set the lineup how I want it, then start the game. Before a single play, I change lineup/substitution control back to the AI and then sim the entire game. Repeat for game two.

Unfortunately this won't work for online leagues that sim multiple days at a time.

Yes I wish 7 days lineups would show both games of the doubleheader. It is difficult to set lineups in an on line league.

Can't you move a resting starter to the minors, replacing him with the guy you want? After the games, just move them back.

Normally, this would be cheating, as players moved to the minors need to stay there for 10 days, except in case of injury. However, OOTP does not check that, and as you only use this "regain" your 26th roster spot it isn't cheating in my eyes.

But apparently HR Derby's are a big deal here. Markus and Co. have my sympathy. They have to do fluff before Baseball.

Ask me about league rules and the difference between the major leagues and the minor leagues.

On second thought, don't. I'm not in the mood at the moment to rant.

nm <edited out what I think of how you act>

I do agree that it would be nice to have the 26th man.

My fictional league, with league evolution turned on, now has all of rosters with a 26-man roster instead of the 25. (Yet it still calls it a 25-man roster)

Even better would be to have the option as "+1 to the active roster for doubleheaders". That way those using something other than the standard 25-man active roster can have the benefit of one extra player in instances of a doubleheader.

Yes, that would be ideal.
