But yeah, it definitely looks like something in the league got screwed up. You're in "spring training", but you don't have an "opening day" event, so we obviously didn't go through the normal setup.

If you send over the league file, we can try to investigate what actually happened. I would definitely suggest backing up before doing anything else if you don't have a recent backup. It might be as simple as forcing the "playoffs start" event to happen tomorrow - given that you still have your team record from last year, it looks more likely that the league went "back in time" to the previous spring. If that's the case, we might be able to "force it forward". If it had already done all the off-season processing (contract updates, financial update, etc...) then we could definitely not recover.

look over league events for sure.

also, double check season start date. based on when some of the dates are in the screenshot, it looks off. check spring training date, too.

i accidentally started a league with 6/1 instead of 4/1 as the first week of play... i was lucky that everything shifted and played out, though. so, not sure if it will help, but worth the look.

Just a shot in the dark...

Check your standings and league scoreboard for the past week. You may have an ongoing tie-breaker and it won't allow the playoffs to start since the game is still trying to figure out who makes it.

Good thought - but you know what's interesting - my regular standings only show 28 games - but the Expanded Standing show all 162. Is this somehow faking the system into thinking it's still Pre-Season?

Another few points:

1. Basic Standings - it only has 28 games - is the system thinking its locked in Spring Training?
2. Expanded Standings - it has all 162 games with a decisive winner (No tie breakers)
3. Pennant Chase - says it will only show 30 days out...odd.

Did you report this in the bug report thread and upload a copy of your league file for the developers to look at.

Beginning to sound to me like the file got corrupted somewhere along the line.

Do you have any backups? Can you go back to the beginning of pre-season for season 3, then in league setup generate or load a new schedule before continuing.

I was thinking that the file got corrupted too. It happened to me once in an earlier version but fortunately I had a backup file that was made before it got corrupted so I had to replay some games and it worked out just fine.

If it's corrupted, I am screwed and lost a ton of time. I thought the save game function was a backup. Hopefully the force season/playoffs the techs suggested save me. They have my files I am at their mercy.

No you need to use the backup function which puts the game file in a different folder than a saved game. What I do is create 3 folder like :

1. 1956 season beginning
2. 1956 season middle
3. 1956 season end

During the season I make a backup after each week and when the season is at the stage where those 3 folders are I just copy the backup into the appropriate folder. It's like an insurance policy.

I hear you - but how does that getting me out of this jam Art 99?

Well if your file is corrupted and you have no backup then my guess is that you're screwed. I could be wrong but I dont think they can repair a bad game file. I really hope I'm wrong.

If you do start over though you might want to try to do what I suggested.

Art - I have faith in our developers and tech people they will force playoffs and I will be fine. I didnt change anything so there's no reason they cant use the spacing until the draft to fix this. I am sure with no changes the game is not bugged this bad that it would cause a permanent crash. If it did - the game is a beta that should have been released at a later date.

files get corrupted. i had a game, with 6 years of backup (one for the completion of each year), and two of my backups ended up being corrupted (world.dat file to be exact) - not certain if it was something i did in creating and editing players in the commish mode - or just what. Luckily, as i said, i had six years of backup, and the 3rd one worked. When i restored the game, my "saved games" file came into play, and i was able to save my league with minimal damage. it took me a couple of crashes and problems before i started making a back-up after each time i play a session.

hopefully the programmers can work magic. Good luck!

Did expansion happen? That did me in (as I was writing this year's Road-2-Release predictions piece, too). The playoffs played, but everything progressed very quickly, and deleted everything. I couldn't see a thing. But it all happened.

What day are the playoffs supposed to start? I don't think the game knows the season is over. The 1986 All-Star Game is July 15, 1987.
