Can someone show me the ropes with this years settings?
Been looking on the forums but haven't found what the popular realistics settings are this year? (Evaluation, AI, Aging, etc)
Can someone just give me the skinny? Looking to start my franchise, want to make sure I have the recommended stuff in order Thanks! |

It should be the defaults in most cases.

Thanks guys, but if I wanted to change evaluation settings, do I actually need to check the option or is it being taken into effect by default? (eg: 35/45/15/5)

yes, you do. and re-run scouting. i believe it even mentions this in the in-game screen? i could be wrong.
just go through the settings you are curious about. check manual and use google searches with the basic terms and "ootp." the google searches will find existing ootp forum posts on the subject matter. most of the time you won't have to wait for a response in the forums, because you can find the answer on your own very easily 95% of the time. |

I did some analysis in other threads, linked below. The defaults are mostly close to reality. If I had to pick two things that are farthest from reality, I'd say bump up your stolen base attempts by 30-40% and increase pitcher development speed to about 1.25.
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...t-lhp-rhh.html http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...h-delight.html For scouting accuracy, I'd also recommend "Very Low" because OOTP scouts tend to be too good relative to MLB. |

i think they re-vamped "normal" accuracy this year. i like the changes, don't get me wrong. but you may want to revisit it in '17.
it's more sophisticated in distributing innaccuracy from what i can tell with my eye... the eye-test is junk so.... take with a grain of salt. |

OK, I'll take a look. They definitely seem to have bumped up Talent Change Randomness on late-round draft picks as well, and that probably makes it trickier to evaluate prospects (unless good scouts somehow know which players will later have a TCR boost). |

I use 125 on Talent Change Randomness and for now use 20/47/22/11 as an experiment. Most folks I follow use either 0 or 10 for the first number so 57 or 67 for the second number. I'll try some with the 20 then a year or so with 10 and then a year or so with 0 and see what is best. All other settings I recommend leaving default. My goal is realism as a GM playing out every game, I suspect the original recommendation I read was best with the 0 but want to learn myself. If your goal is to be behind a computer with godly powers then use whatever settings anywhere that help you with that. If your goal is realism probably the ones I said with the 125 plus the 0/67/22/11 will be the best for a GM. My characters that are managers use the settings my GMs use and it is fine. Things like how often you steal as a GM just hire a Manager that plays like you want. As a Manager steal whenever you like, hit and run, etc. It's all your choice and no need for settings.
