Expanded Front Office
I made a similar request last season or the season before, but I have to resubmit it this year. I'd love to see the Front Office expanded to include a Team President, one or two Team Vice Presidents, and maybe an Assistant General Manager or two.
My reason for this, and it may seem silly to some, is that I can't stand looking at the list of available personnel and seeing the likes of Theo Epstein and Billy Beane. It makes no sense to have individuals like that available for some independent league to hire as a general manager, when we all know they hold positions of great importance within their organizations in real life. It isn't necessary for these new roles to actually do anything, other than just exist. However, if they were to be assigned tasks, perhaps the Team President could be available to approve trades the general manager puts together. Team Vice Presidents could make transaction suggestions or something (what the hell do they really do anyway?!). You could assign your Assistant GM to work on a trade within certain parameters, and present what they have worked out to you at a later date. I don't know, just spitballing here. I'd just like to see something simple done to correct this irritation, and if someone wanted to go crazy and make it into something more substantial, that would be cool too. Am I alone here? Thanks for your time and the fantastic work you produce every year, OOTP Team! Regards. |

Different strokes for different folks...
Personally I would like it if they performed functions and reported back; however, the first time they trade off your stud prospect pitcher for a left handed 2B is the last time. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

I could totally get behind a system where they actually perform functions. My initial goal, though, is to prevent the 2016 Alpine Cowboys from hiring Theo Epstein or Frank Wren or Dave Dombrowski without having to just erase those people from the game.

There are already Assistant GMs in the game since the default GM of whichever team you take over gets demoted to AGM. They just don't have any in-game responsibilities. For example, I'm currently in my second season as GM of the Boston Red Sox, and Mike Hazen is listed as my Assistant General Manager since he was the GM when I got hired. I do agree that AGMs should have more in-game responsibilities. I do agree that Team Presidents should be listed and have the ability to overrule any move you make since the only person who can overrule any moves is the owner, and even then he can only overrule you on any contract you offer a free agent when you don't have enough free money. |
