Starting a realistic MLB league

I want to start a realistic MLB league and by realistic i mean as close as its going to get. Id also like to play based on stats more than ratings. What do all of you change settings-wise to achieve this?

The first thing I do, of course, is turn off league evolution.

With the caveat that more/less pitching and offense can sometimes be alright to leave on. They don't seem to cause too drastic swings, but can give a more realistic feel to long term saves. Real baseball ebbs and flows, and while the ingame reasoning is a bit iffy (I'd prefer if it was silent evolution for that, and made itself apparent over the years instead of announcing things like a pitch mound change), it helps provide the sort of changes we even to this day still see.

As to stats mostly instead of stats only, good AI weights are 25/40/25/10, scouting at 2-8 and very low, aging speeds at .850 and TCR at 125 to make things a bit more unpredictable and to make sure plays don't just suddenly fall off a cliff.

Stats only is fun, and the only way to know is to try it, but the UI makes it really counterprouctive, which is why I only flirt with it, despite having serious issues with the current scouting system as evidenced by my comments in that linked thread.

If you're masochistic enough, also change the injury rates from Normal to High. It's more realistic, but I don't know anyone who would consider having a DL like the 2014 Rangers fun, as true to life as it is.

Loading up the US Indy Leagues, and Japanes and korean majors also can help, they aren't a big impact, but with the posting system, having them be real (both real real and fake real if you catch my meanings) people with real records helps immensely when deciding if the bill is worth it, while the Indy leagues can both be a second source of players besides the draft, as well as a place for has beens and never weres to wind up organically instead of rotting in free agency forever till they retire.

Lastly, Its such a small thing, but remembering to rename the awards to Silver Slugger and Gold Glove can go a long way, not sure why but it just does.
