Arbitration Page
I have no money for extensions. On my arb. page I am right clicking on the player to offer an extension for a 1 year deal to avoid arbitration and offer a lower amount than is being generated as my teams' arb offer. However I get a message from my owner saying that my lower offer can't happen because we don't have any money for extensions. How can I offer the player a deal without going to arbitration?

You'll have to go into commisioner mode (click on your name at the top menu -> team control settings).

This whole scenario just seems really unrealistic. There should be a way for you to not only see what the player has filed for in arbitration, but also a way for you to make an offer without it counting against your extension budget.

It's not hard to figure out roughly what they're going to ask for. I haven't actually did the math but it's usually like 10-20% more than whatever your default offer is on the arbitration screen.
I'm not a fan of a hard cap on the extension budget though. If you can sign a star player to a long-term team-friendly contract the owner shouldn't be worried about what your hypothetical budget looks like with part of a season and a whole off-season to move salary around. Not much you can do it about it at the moment but go into commissioner mode. |

That should be fixed since it was an identified issue in v16.

Yeah I know it's not hard to figure out what they're asking for and I agree with what you're saying. But in real life the team and the player each know flat out what the other files for in arbitration. I don't understand why that can't be the same in this game.
