Problem is when someone comes on the boards and post something like that, they are opening the door for discussions like this as people will be on one side or the other. Simple solution as you said is to go into the nickname file and remove the ones you don't like....or just go check the box that disables all nicknames. Not sure about everyone else, but I don't want to come to the boards and have to see threads of people fighting about something that really is not related to baseball.....let's just PLAY BALL! |

I found a simple fix.
I just edited the entry "Grand Wizard" in the nickname file to instead read: "Painmantle." |

You want to fix your problem? Go to the list and delete the two names that bother you. Done. No need to come here and post about it. Now, if you want to try to control what other people see and do, then yes you should come here and make a big deal out of it. |

I don't want nicknames of white supremacist leaders in my baseball game. Who does? How is this ****ing controversial? |

Years on these here forums has shown these types of arguments to pretty much amount to nothing.

"Grand Wizard" is the nickname of both a black rapper and a WWE star. Nobody significant has a problem with either. Get over yourself.

And delete it out of your nickname file and move the Hell on.

There's currently "The Magician", "Wizard", "The Wizard" and "Grand Wizard". I think it would be good if the developers changed the last one to "Great Wizard" or "The Illusionist" or any other variant of magic that won't cause controversy on this forum.

Looks like "Dummy" and "Rube" have already been edited out, but they live on as the BB-Ref and OOTP first names of Messrs. Hoy, Waddell, Bressler, Taylor, and others.

"my hats off to you but dine belittle those who do get offended. Everyone's Conscience is different and should not be beaten down but respected."
That's fine, until a single offended person means something has to be banned. There are billions of people in the world. Almost any word, name, object offends at least one person. |

I thought he went by "Washed up asshole"?
Also I'm going to take this thread, spread it across my lawn, and watch it become a barren wasteland.

Remember that this game isn't only played in America. If I hear of a Grand Wizard, that is Gandalf for me, not some republican with a bed sheet over his head.
Maybe have an optional "politically correct" list, that others can use if they are easily offended? And by giving them the option, the normal list does not have to placate to those easily offended people. Both sides would profit. Then again, about 90% wouldn't notice it or care about it anyway. |

I am not easily offended. I do believe, however, that nicknames that have obvious negative associations (for instance, with racial oppression) are best excluded.

The famous quote in these forums "it is your game play it your way". This thread is getting right out of control but making "interesting " reading. |
