7 years...

7 years with Cleveland starting in 2015 and I still have not made a World Series appearance!

This might be the year I get fired.

Ha, i´m 22 years in and never won a league title nor reached the World Series but i have an owner who can´t fire me. I´m once again in rebuild mode right now.

I´m sure he hates how i handle his club but i´m married with his daugther and we have 5 kids together. He can´t fire me, haha.

I've made the playoffs 6 out of 7 years but he wanted payroll cut and I couldn't get it that low.

If he wants me gone.. there are some teams out there looking for a GM.

I was working on re-cursing the Red Sox with 14 years without a WS title, despite making the playoffs seven years in a row we only made one WS appearance, losing in game 7.

I definitely was close to being fired a couple times around years 5-7, but now all is good despite the lack of championships. Getting fired wouldn't have bothered me though, I haven't had that happen since '13 or '14 so it would have been a nice challenge.

But now I've started my historical fictional league, so the Sox save will be back burnered.

I've still never been fired. I usually satisfy at least one of the owner's goals every year, I'm not sure what it takes to get fired?

Well, at least you didn't get one strike away and blow it. Thanks Jose Mesa

I'm only in mid-May in my Indians season (playing out the games). Doing well though. Marlon Byrd has been a godsend, hitting .300 with 10 homers.

Well my $24 mil 1B was out all season and my ace cy young SP injured himself with 3 weeks left in the season and was out for the rest of the year.

I probably should have went with Kluber in the WC game, but Binford was much better during the regular season.

Next season is OUR year..... unless I'm fired.

Good question... I have read some threads where people have been fired.

I haven’t been fired yet in OOTP 17, but I had some terrible luck in OOTP 16.

I started with the Blue Jays in 2015, finished around .500.Then I won the World Series in 2016 and I also satisfied my owner’s request to give an extension to Bautista. So he was thrilled about my performance in 2016 and I had a great score and reputation. All was great until I got fired after a disastrous injury-filled 2018 season. And it didn’t help that Bautista…well, he did what OOTP players usually do after signing huge extensions at age 36. Worst contract. Ever.

I got a new job with the Mariners. I got fired after two seasons, which really surprised me because I thought I was doing OK there. Then I got hired by the Brewers who had been the worst team the previous season. In June the team’s record was 17-50 and I got fired again! I didn’t think that could actually happen less than halfway through a first season in a new job. Next up I took a job with the Mets who were also a terrible, rebuilding club. And again I got fired from that job after 2 years.

Finally, I took a job with the SF Giants and I built a dynasty there. Over 20 years I made it to 6 WS and won 2 championships. And Ionly had a couple of losing seasons so I always had great job security there. The owners were always generous financially too so I never had any problemswith budgets, extensions, etc.

And, yeah, I know I can make myself un-fireable in theoptions but I kind of like the excitement & challenge of trying to build a winner with an infuriated owner.

Have an owner who in the next year wants you to resign a top free agent pitcher who is asking for $45million a year, wants you to have a $25 million bank balance at year end, win the championship.... and also here's a 30M cut to your payroll.

I just had to leave the Cardinals and take over San Francisco instead.

Probably not too bad....

San Diego is always looking for a GM.. might be my next choice, although I would like to stay in Cleveland at least until we can make it to one World Series.

Well.. I just signed a new 5 year deal, overall the owner was really happy and even opened up his check book so I can get some FA's this season!

Where's the realism? You kept getting job offers.

That's awesome. I do have a habit of exiting what looks like impossible situations, when the owner clearly doesn't have patience for what needs to be done. Also, when they meddle it infuriates me. You want me to rebuild and come up with XXXX money yet you extended a terrible player's contract? Grrrrr
