The Most Expensive Free Agent Ever??
Jason Heyward just finished his second straight MVP season for the Cubs, and decided to use his Opt Out clause after year 2, making him a free agent. His extension demands were around $41 million per year over 8 years, I decided to slap him with a qualifying offer and let him walk. I go to see his demands and offer him the contract he desired previously. He declines. His renewed demands show up as 68,000,000 dollars a year.
![]() ![]() ![]() Has anyone ever had this happen to them before? I'm puzzled as to how and why these players have their demands so high for so long? |

I never give in to players who are going to want big dollars, I usuaally trade them for younger players or prospects. My rule of thumb is to never get to comfortable with a player and his production...he can always be replaced.

Is there an option to have shorter contract lengths in free agency?
