As for injury setting, I use the default one. I believe that's set to "normal." It's awesome, isn't it? Rather than focus on managing a certain team, I follow a league, and my fictional MLB feels as real as the current real-life product to me. Watching prospects become stars, reading news on blockbuster deals and big signings, following pennant races, MVP races etc.. My league has basically taken on a life of its own. If anyone is reading and cares about his progress
here's another update. I don't usually sim this fast but I don't think I've ever been this captivated by a fictional player before. He just won his 5th straight MVP award, in a year which was a bit of a "down year" by his standards. Didn't hit the 200 hit mark for the first time in 6 years, "only" batted .311, had an OBP of .402 and his lowest WAR in 6 seasons. He did however hit the most home runs of his career. I'm wondering if at age 31 we will now start to see his decline. Remains to be seen how long he can keep this up. So, 6 straight seasons of an OPS over 1.000. Basically a 75 WAR player by age 31. 331 home runs, 1951 hits, 1067 RBI, career OPS of 1.004. He can still play another 8-10 years, just not sure at what level and how long he'll be dominant. But seriously, this guy has to be in the discussions for greatest of all-time. Or at least one of the greatest peaks or 10 year stretch. |

I too am in the crowd that can't believe he doesn't have a ring yet. Would be a crying shame if he goes his career without one

It definitely would be a shame. I wonder if it would hurt his legacy a bit if he doesn't win at least one. The guy can't win a WS on his own, but many of the all-time greats have won at least once in my fictional MLB.

I have never played in Commish mode because I don't understand how the game would be any fun at all if I'm not running a team... but please post another update ASAP! I have to know how the rest of his contract plays out!

One area where OOTP needs improvement, is contract AI for position player free agents. I get that Dick is on the "decline" compared to his previous years, but seriously..? To go until the first week of the season and then signing with the Texas Rangers on a 1 year deal at 9.5 million? Really?
He opted out of the last year with the Dodgers and was requesting 9 years at 40 million per in free agency. Predictably, teams remained uninterested and he didn't lower his demands until late into the pre-season and again in spring training. It seems teams will not give position player free agents big money, long-term deals. Only pitchers. And not even very good ones at that. I hope this is worked on. This guy should NOT have to wait until the first week of the season to sign that crap contract. Anyways, as you can see his run of 1.000 OPS seasons are over. Still a pretty good year and was tied for the MLB lead in position player WAR with 7.1. Will be interested to see how he does this coming season. Edit: Sorry, it looked like he was at 7.1 at the end of the season but it dropped to 6.9. Last edited by Habsfan18; 04-14-2016 at 07:35 PM. |

Basically he's the Bryce Harper of your league?

Did any of the big-market teams have $40 million available to sign him? I wonder if there weren't any teams with enough funds to offer a contract and then some code kicked in that causes a player to accept a 1-year deal. |

2 more years of Bill Dick baseball. While not at the same level of dominance anymore, he's still pretty productive. Sure-fire HOFer and potentially the greatest of all-time in my league.
Still no ring, however. The past 2 seasons, his Texas Rangers have been eliminated from a post-season spot on the final day of the regular season. That has to be crushing.. |
