Lehman database question

Yeah, I figured this would be the best place to ask. So here goes nothing. I started a historical league in 1901 and I've been playing it for quite awhile and now I'm in 1933. Then I came to the realization that Lou Gehrig never came in to the league. I've searched every roster and the free agent list for his name and he's not on the game. He's supposed to join the league back in 1923 so I have no idea why he's not on the game. Can anyone help me out here? Does it have anything to do with if I haven't changed any of the team names or anything since I started? Because I know by 1933 the New York team is called the Yankees and no longer the Giants. But they're still the New York Giants on mine. So is that the reason or is it something else? Any help would be appreciated.

Nah, I thought about that but I've imported the real rookies every season. At least I'm 99.9% sure that I did.

Did you look in the Master.csv file to make sure Gehrig is in there and what year it has him debuting in?

Yeah I checked the master file to see if Gehrig was in there and he is. I didn't check to see what year he debuts though. I'm guessing it would be 1923 like he did in real life.

Lahman looks for team abbrevations to decide on who to import.

As you are going through and teams relocate and expand you will have to edit this to mimic the changes to get the players to relocate. I usually look at the teams.csv to see what a teams abbreviation was called....

Now as far as why Lou Gehrig didn't import....unless something changed...he should have....have any of the Yankees been importing, the team name doesn't matter...you could have it blank for that matter. Check the retired list in the almanac...he may have had a career ending injury right off the bat...I had that happen to Walter Johnson....he had 1.1 innings for his career...due to injury.

In 1933 there are 2 New York teams, one in the AL called the Yankees, (They moved to NY from Baltimore in 1903 and became the Highlanders until 1913 when they became the Yankees) the other in the NL called the Giants. (The Giants were in the NL from day 1 until 1959 when they moved to San Francisco, where they reside today and are still named the Giants).

For more info on teams, name changes, relocations, etc, see my Baseball Chronology

Well that was informational but still didn't really help me out with my problem. Anyone else have any idea of what could be wrong?

There is a bug with OOTP5 and Lahman that if the abbreviations don't match and you are assigning players to their original teams then the players from the incorrectly abbreviated team(s) end up in limbo.

So if you started a league prior to 1903 and the Yankees stayed the Orioles then no players that debut with the Yankees would show up, I believe the correct Yankee abbreviation for Lahman 5.0 is NYA.

Also he could of just crapped out. He appeared in a very limited role during the 1923 & 1924 seasons so he could of imported with terrible ratings and just never made a major league roster.
