Allocated Budget Space
I just imported a fictional league from 16 to 17. However I noticed that the finances for each team changed upon import. Teams no longer have free agent money or money to extend free agents. Appears that something new was added for 17, "allocated budget space". This is what is throwing off the finances. Is there any way to edit this figure? I went into Commissioner mode, but I didn't see a way to edit it. I also checked the on-line manual and did not see anything on this. Any ideas? Thanks,

I figured it out. Allocated Budget Space is the combined amount of the draft budget and international F/A budget. Since I imported the league during the season (I know, not recommended), the AI set the international F/A budgets much higher than needed. This left the teams with no free agent money and very little money for extensions.

Under League settings, Players tab, there is now an option to set an amount for the international budget, or 0 for none. For my league, it was set at 2.8 mil by default. I don't see any option but to finish out the year in OOTP 16, and then import during the off season. Fortunately I only played a couple games in 17, so not much will be lost. I am early in the season though, so it will be awhile before I get to there.

Hmmm...interesting. I'm halfway in my imported 16 league so restarting isn't a good option for me. If I remember correctly, there is a way to edit finances on the team but I can't remember where it is.

Gee, maybe the Hotfix fixed that:
"-Fixed financial issues with draft/intl FA budgets" |

I downloaded the update last night, it did not help this issue. From Commissioner mode, you can edit each team's finances from the front office tab. However there is not an option to edit the international free agent budget. The only thing you could do is see what each team budgeted, and then add that money to the cash amount.
I was still early in my season, however I had done a save on January 1st. I went back and imported the January 1st save into OOTP 17. I then changed the international free agent budget in the league settings, player tab, from 2.8 mil to zero. That worked. Not sure if I will have any issues come July when the international free agents are announced, but I think it will be ok. |
