Steam is a client that allows you to purchase games digitally. It mainatins your library across multiple devices, automatically updates games, and serves as a platform to host multiplayer games. You can also maintain a friends list to keep up to date with what your friends are playing, chat with them, and play games with them.

If you're a gamer, it's a fantastic platform. If you really just play OOTP, it's probably unnecessary.

Steam is a gaming platform operated by Valve (the guys who make the Half Life and Portal games, as well as DOTA 2). Originally it was a platform for selling and easily keeping their own games up to date, but soon they started selling other company's games too, and eventually it became a massive market leader in digital game sales (the actual client itself is free).

You certainly don't NEED Steam (although it is useful for automatically patching games), but a lot of people use it because most of the games they buy are via Steam, so it's easy to have them all in one place and always up to date. You can get it from www.steampowered.com/ if you're interested.

Civilization 5. If you think Out of the Park Baseball is a time machine(what do you mean it's 5AM and I've been playing for 10 hours?!), the Civilization series invented the time machine.

I can imagine it's an awesome game, but never was into games like that. Playing games on OOTP for an old coot like me brings back sweet memories. I've loved baseball since I can even remember life. transistor radios in bed listening to baseball was heaven. Taking up and managing old teams of the White Sox is beautuiful. My Avatar of Bell Melton (3B) of 70's White Sox is not an error. He was my favorite player growing up. Well enough of this BS
Thanks All
Harris

thinking about using Steam...

If I start a league on steam, does my progress save in a cloud or something? can I continue a season on multiple systems (with steam installed) without using a thumb drive?

NOTHING screams "Just one more turn!" more than the Civ series does.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
