Does ratings scale change the sim results?
If I change from the 20-80 ratings scale to 1-100, does it change the results via the sim engine or just the presentation of the ratings in the interface?
For example, does having ratings 1-19 and 81-100 in play change the range of results for sim math? Would a guy with 1 contact on 1-100 fare substantially worse than a 20 on the 20-80 scale? Is a 20 on both scales roughly equal in the engine? Thank you. |

Its just how you look at these ratings. If you go into the editor youll see the real ratings of players and a lot of these are rated from 1-250. These are translated to whichever scale you use.

I use the 1-100. I want it as accurate as possible!

I recently switched to using the 20-80 rating scale, but since I'm "used" to the 1-100 rating in console games, I might switch to that.

first, i use 1-100.
i'll suggest using 20-80, if you also use 20-80 on overall/potential. consistency in values will be nice.... i've gotten used to 1-100 and converting it, i just don't want to re-learn 20-80 for the individual stuff... lol anyway, it is possible it affects the AI. if the AI must adhere to the scale you have choosen, it will affect their decisions. ignoring inaccuracies: say they are a 46 on the 1-100 and 5 1-10 the logic for a particular decisions says if X >= 50 or X >=5 ..... you can see that the AI will make a different decision. since 46 cannot be resolved on a 1-10 scale perfectly, it is rounded (in some way shape or form, not necessarily what i used in the example). this lack of resolution can affect decisions. IF the AI uses the underlying values as opposed to the chosen scale, then nothing different will occur in ai decisions due to scale. Last edited by NoOne; 03-24-2016 at 04:59 PM. |

The AI makes the majority, if not exclusively, decisions based on its internal value. The presentations are just that, displayed information.
Your logic may not be without some merit, however, in that AI Evaluation settings, Trade value, working in tandem with managerial tendencies that value a player's Scout rating or This Years Stats, etc... work together independently toward, I think, a single determining factor that tips the scales on the decision/reaction within decimal points. In that respect, the decision is still internal, not rounded off, but may appear so in the user's interpretation. More likely, it will be overlooked altogether. Too many unseens. The likelihood, however, is that there will be no visible difference between one presentation system or another, beyond how the user personally tailors his tools to use that information to make decisions. Those can, and will be, impacted by user-type and user-philosophy, but IMHO does change the AI's value, only what the user sees, and ultimately, does with it. and

first, i have no idea which it uses, haven't read anything official, nor looked for it. i made that clear in the last reply. also, i have doubts that any solid info exists on these particulars in the first place, so it is all hypothetical in the first place. what i think is more liekly isn't relevant to the question. so, i explained both possibilities.
there is no personal preference or intuition as to what is actually happening (too insignificant for the effort to flesh it out, imo). it could be used merely as a handicap to humans while the ai uses 1-25 scale, or the scale could be applied equally. there are logical reasons for both. |
