Is this working as designed?

Historical league with minors enabled. Mike Schmidt becomes a free agent. On November 24 1977 he signs with the Boise Buckskins to a 6 year deal worth $3,720,000. You still with me? Good. Same day, his contract is purchased by the Angels, as it should be.
I was curious and wanted to see his yearly salaries, however, he is now on a minor league contract.

So, I ask anyone who knows. Is this (his contract dissapearing) by (game) design?

Haha, no, the Boise Buckskins should not be able to sign him. Please file a bug report, we'll fix this in a patch

I had a similar thing happen in 1971, with Rico Carty signing to a C-level team for an outrageous sum, and then getting bought out by a ML team. The biggest problem is that the minor league team signed him for $500,000+, but then his contract in the majors is the league minimum (~$20,000). I'll post this in the bug thread.

Hey Markus, just letting you know I made a thread about this as well, and a couple of us are talking about it in the sticky thread in the bug reports section.

This is KILLING historical games for us. Hopefully you can get it fixed in the release day patch today!

What happens is, this independent teams are signing players, and MLB teams are only getting them on one year deals after they purchase their contracts. It cause the players to be on a new team EVERY year after they hit free agency for the first time

That mode is kind of broken at the moment due to this.

This will be fixed in patch 1.

Thank you! Free agency seemed to be working as intended in my test file but on the day that free agents were announced, a bunch of random veteran players were being added to the game. Obviously in the past the only way players would get added to the random debut game was via the amateur draft or the inaugural draft.

Yup. For now the workaround is to start your random debut league in 2015, then this won't happen.
