Was the playing out of position 'bug' fixed??

Several of us have noted that players will be put into positions they rarely or never played, mostly because they have good offensive stats.

The game would rarely start and/or play, for example, a good fielding SS who hit .235. But, It would plug in a guy who hit .270 and is an "8" at SS.

I know that you can manually force a player to start and play at a position, but this gets to be a pain to have to do that for several teams.

If I have to keep doing that, so be it, but I was hoping it would be fixed.

This is not a bug, just the AI disagreeing with you. It's based on the player evaluation algorithm, which accurately weights both offense and defense.

So how can that be fixed?

A real life manager would NOT play Mickey Mantle (for instance) at SS, if he has a good fielder there, such as Kubek or Rizzuto.

I know others have complained about this.

Like I said, if it hasn't been changed, I will deal with it like I always have by forcing them.

We have done some adjustments to the lineup and AI logic, so that guys with very little experience won't get tapped to start as often at positions. That should limit the amount that someone like Mantle would be picked to start at SS, which should prevent him from getting enough experience to get a good rating there.

So it should definitely be better than it was in 16.
