Cannot import a picture for player without one

I downloaded a jpg for a minor league player that had no image in the game and did the following steps on the player profile page:

1. Press Baseball Cards tab.
2. Click Manage Baseball Cards button.
3. Click New to create a new card.
4. Once you have the card created press Manage Baseball Cards.
5. Choose Import.
6. Select the picture file you want to import.

At this point you see the picture, but then it never gets saved to the baseball card. The card is still pictureless.
