Why (and what) is OOTP trying to write to my SD card?

I have Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 3. I recently added a micro SD card for some expanded storage. Sometimes Windows stop seeing the card and I have to remove it and re-insert it to get it to work again. While this is a problem it shouldn't have anything to do with my OOTP game.

The game itself, data files, and saved games are on the C: drive. However, sometimes when the game is saving it will complain the the D: drive (the SD card) isn't available. If I remove it and put it back in, everything works okay.

My question is what is OOTP trying to do with that drive? Is there a setting somewhere?
