New defensive shift questions
Quote:
Is this something that will only be available if you play out your games or will it show up in sims too? Finally (and I realize this is a long-shot), some teams will move an OFer to the infield when the winning run is on 3rd base and they have a strong groundball pitcher in. Is there an option to replicate this type of shift in those situations or at any point in the game?

Or 4 infielders on 1 side of 2nd base.

What Goes Around Comes Around
"...play your defensive alignment to meet their strength, the way they hit most often. Mack did that with Ruth. We would shift the whole team around toward the right. The first baseman on the right field foul line, the second baseman on the grass in short rightfield midway between first and second, the shortstop behind second base, and the third baseman in the normal position of the shortstop. The outfield moved around correspondingly." -- Mickey Cochrane, The Fan's Game (1939)

During simmed games, you don't have a preference for all of the shift options - that hasn't overly changed from last year. But based on the settings/coach pref, they'll set the shifts as they feel appropriate for the game situations.
For example, if you have it set to shift less, during simmed games they'll be less likely to pull the harder shifts, and tend more for the weaker shifts, if they decide to shift. |

Will the AI start using shifts? I never see them doing so when I play games.
Will we have to chose double-play depth now? I feel like that might make playing games tedious. Wasn't it considered automatic in standard play? |

Figured I would jump on here. This seems like a really basic question, hope someone doesn't mind answering it:
I'm playing as both GM and Manager, on the strategy screen I have moved the 'Use Infield Shifts' slider all the way to the frequently side. I assume this influences the amount of shifts in a sim game, but what about when I play out a game? Currently I have the Defensive Strategy to be set to be controlled by me; does this use my strategy settings or do I have to manually change every shift? It seems logical that changing my setting to Computer AI will automatically do the shifts, but would that use the default setting or my user-defined settings? That was a lot of questions, sorry! Love the game, have been playing non-stop since yesterday. |

What about multiple shifts in a single AB? Does the AI do this? For instance, protecting against a bunt until there are 2 strikes.
