Touchpad Issue

I have a MacBook Air 13 that I use to play OOTP and I have it set to tap to click. I have noticed that outside playing a game I can tap to click all the menus but during the game the menus at the top and bottom I have to actually click the touchpad. Not sure if this is intended or not
