H2H was to be added in a previous version, but was scraped. Caused a bit of a ruckus, but time has now passed that it's ok to joke about it. Maybe 10 years ago?

Yep, I remember that well. I was disappointed that the promised feature wasn't delivered. I think it was the only time Markus failed in that area, not bad considering all the releases involved.

Oh man I truly hope this does happens in 18. My brother and I have been waiting for an easy way to do this in OOTP for years(!!)

(Forgot to quote Markus saying a head-to-head feature possibly being in 18)

Just to clarify a bit. Is this for just a game head-to-head, or can one be simulating a seasons with another player with statistics and such be accessiable to both players?

Both. You can use regular online league mode to sync lineups etc and then play out your games head-to-head via TeamViewer.

Thanks for the quick reply (being as busy as you must be, pretty amazing!..but that is you

We've tried this, but I think neither of us is tech savvy enough to (or OOTP savvy) to set league mode up and etc. to make all this work. But it's good to know it's possible and keep trying.

So Is It Functional Now

So, as a test can we use Team Viewer, which I am totally unfamiliar with, with version OOTP 16 or 17 to get a feel for how it will work. Will Team Viewer be supported by OOTP18 and comes with the game? There is a cost to using this, correct ? Please give us some more insight on the future of head to head online play with OOTP.

Added edit: I just downloaded the freeware version of team viewer, made backup copy of our online league file. I am trying to get another GM from the league to do the same ......get Team Viewer and we will attempt a test. But this brings up further questions if this part works...after we play a game head to head, since I am Commish I assume I just save the game as normal. Additionally, can the live sim mode be activated so that other GM's can watch live a game being played between two GM's (one being the Commish) ? Now, if two GM's play a game head to head.............how is the results of that game uploaded to my game (Commish) since I am not involved in that play ?

TeamViewer ? Remote Support, Remote Access, Online Collaboration and Meetings

The security of this concerns me a bit, however.

Not a fan of strangers gaining access to my computer - for whatever their reason!

Team Viewer Experiment failure for Head to Head

I tried twice with two other GM's in my league to try and play an exhibition game using Team Viewer. We both could move the mouse around the screen but could not figure out how to switch so that after his player singled I wanted to pitch out, but had no way to change the play............it still showed swing away or only offensive option decisions.........no defense. So, either I did not have the exhibition game set up correctly or else Team Viewer does not provide that option during a game play.

Does anyone know a work around or fix ?

Just to back up Markus's suggestion regarding TeamViewer, I've been using it for the past few years (not for OOTP, though) and it is excellent. Free and easy to use. Very reliable.

I don't remember the program we used, But I was in an online DM league in the Mid-90's where we played out all our games with a remote desktop program (This was before they had online h2h play) While it was successful, it was a true pain in the rear-end to say the least

Also just the shear number of games in a baseball season makes it a logistic nightmare trying to play all of them out, the league I mentioned above you played the same team for an in-game week week 3h/3a. Suffice to say it really slows the league process down substantially, almost to the point of "real time" and frankly once you get into that format, your prospective GM Target group for an online league grows even smaller.

Play Only Selected games

I realize with 30 GM's it is not feasible to expect every game to be played head to head. I would certainly want to use it for the playoffs and World Series and perhaps some selected games during the season. With GM's in different time zones around the world and with normal life activities it is not expected to play every game head to head.

Another clarification in using 'TeamViewer'. This can't work with cross platforms, right. I.e. one person can't be on a Mac and the other PC?

More Team Viewer Testing Head to Head

I did some more testing with Team Viewer and it seems all it really can offer to OOTP head to head play is sharing the same screen and both users in control of the mouse. We need the ability to "hide" an opponents movement of the mouse so we can not see selections such as a pitch out, swing away, take a pitch, etc. If the opponent sees a team choosing to hit and run than the opponent can easily just counter a selection and pitch out! These mouse selections need to be hidden from the opponent. Now, am I correct in this matter ? Or do I have something incorrectly set up ? Also, I don't see a way to webcast (or is it broadcast) a head to head game through team viewer as head to head games are being played out. Or am I wrong on that point also ?

OOTP is the best. But the only game that offers head to head baseball matchups in a single game that I know of is Action! PC Baseball

It lacks a lot of the Management features of OOTP, but historical head to head, it has.
