Disappearing Scouts

This is a problem that seemed to crop up in v15 and I continue to see in v16. I would like to know if this has been addressed in any way in v17.

Problem: At the end of a season, a scout doesn't retire, doesn't die and isn't at the end of his contract. Well, maybe he does retire? .. But the GM gets ZERO notification of it, there's no mention of it in any log, and the scout disappears completely from the game. Here's a bunch of screenshots to illustrate my problem:

Here's my scout 2 days before the WS is over, you'll notice the dates and see he's got 1 more year left on his contract.


Here you can see my scout when you search, listed in the coaches section.


Now, after we pass the World Series and enter the off-season, you'll see my scout is gone.


Is there news or a message about it? No.


Did he leave because he didn't like my management style (aka is he on the available personnel tab, unfiltered and sorted by last name)? No.


Maybe the transaction log can clue me in... Nope.


Ok, he's gotta be somewhere right? Let's search for him now.


Conclusion.. He's probably retired. That is totally ok. What isn't ok is that 1. the GM gets no notification about it, and needs to wander onto a player page to notice OOPS! he can only view the osa scout's ratings on a player. and 2. the player disappears from the world completely. this, however, may be due to league settings that I'm missing?

Please help me understand, and unless I'm missing something, I would like to suggest adding news or transaction details behind a scout retiring.

matt, I figured it out, I killed him...

Maybe he was operating under a false identity before, and now he changed his name to his real name like Roberto Hernandez, aka Fausto Carmona.

While the responses above are nice and I've certainly thought all of that and more about this topic, I was wondering if I could get some feedback here from either a dev or someone else who's maybe seen this too?

He'd still be under contract, though.

You don't get an email about this if you have set the AI to handle your coaching staff signings. This is intentional because otherwise it would halt your simulation.
