Thoughts on my fictional setup and stadiums?

Hello everyone!

I am currently creating a baseball league in Fiji based in 1900. 16 teams in 4 divisions. Stadiums are all gonna be 10,000 capacity or less. Finances will be almost non existent but I like to keep them on to see if some clubs grow financially more dominant than others.

I have started off in commissioner mode just to how the league will shape up, but I eventually want to take over a team and see what I can do. How long do you think I should let the league play out before I find a team?

I would also like some ideas for a backstory to this league...something like the English brought over the bat and ball to the natives of the island(s), showed them the basics and over time, 16 teams from the Fiji islands formed the first ever Fiji Baseball League.

Here are the stadium models I have created so far:

Magnolia Parkway Ballpark
8450 seating capacity

Zavala Diamond
2900 seating capacity

High Avenue Grounds
2500 seating capacity

Wachovia Grounds
3410 seating capacity

Size: 266.4 KB

Locust Circle Field
3500 seating capacity

I can't upload anymore attachmets from my computer, so here are the names of the remaining stadiums.

Adams Run Grounds
10,000 seating capacity

Kellwood Stadium
4100 seating capacity

Park Drive Grounds
7900 seating capacity

Cemetery Place Ballpark
9650 seating capacity

Sunset View Stadium
5100 seating capacity

Brooks Stadium
7000 seating capacity

Clay Road Ground
6750 seating capacity

Bridge Drive Yard
5000 seating capacity

Andreas Raht Ballpark
2850 seating capacity

Supervalu Ballpark
9500 seating capacity

Anyway I can add more than 5 images to a new post? Let me know

Otherwise, I will add these images to each team stadium section, add the dimensions and such to make it look a bit nicer and interesting.I still don't know how to make these into the 3d images

Cheers guys for any feedback!

So far these are cool.
However can you tell me the stuff about dimensions.
Also, can you show the others.

Man, playing center field at Magnolia must be a nightmare. Imagine all the ground rules it'd need...

Love it, though. As for the images, probably best to upload them somewhere like imgur.com and then post the links (or use the [img] tags).

I usually let my fictional worlds play our for 10-20 years. Gives enough time for some tangible history to form.

kungfupandacam, here is a spreadsheet I made for each stadium, dimensions are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...pub?output=pdf

Here is the 16th stadium that did not get added to the first post here:

I am going to write a story when OOTP 17 comes out following this league, so you will see all of the stadiums then.

Ya, I did go wacky on some of the stadiums just for fun.

I will check imgur out for adding images to posts!

10-20 years sounds like a good gap. Thanks!

If an MLB stadium was like Magnolia there would be four outfielders, three infielders, and a catcher.

I think this is a really cool idea! I enjoy creating leagues in non-traditional baseball countries.

A couple thoughts:
First, how did you arrive at Fiji? Never occurred to me.

Second, how long you let it run before you jump in is entirely a matter of personal taste, and there's nothing wrong with jumping straight in. I usually go 10 years if I want the league to develop its own personality. I go 20 years if I want to skip through the first crop of created players (this used to be kinda necessary, not so much any more). I go 30 years if I want all of the coaches and managers to be former players. That's a big immersion factor for me.

Third, you can call me an old fogey traditionalist, but I think you're going to see very strange results with your ballparks if the dimensions match the pictures. That might not be a big deal at all to you, and if it's not- have at it! Personally, it would drive me a little nuts. But as we say around here, "It's your game, play it your way!"

I have a storyline:
Fiji was having good rugby until things happenned. Like their team being so bad and losing all the time. Then, cricket became bigger as more people in the countries loved it. And when Kieran Powell joined a MLB team, Fiji started a league which was small. It would become the first ever Fiji Baseball League.

Hi cavebutter,

Fiji is just somewhere I think could be a good setting for a fictional league like this, small remote and obscure.

I like the idea of simming 10 or so years to get some rough history added to the league. After that, who knows what will happen!

In terms of stadium dimensions, ridiculously shaped stadiums don't really bother me. I think each stadium is unique and adds something to each league and baseball team, like the Astros and Minute Maid Park or the Cubs and Wrigley. Same with scorelines, just adds a quirky bit to the story. Don't worry, not all of my stadiums are oddly shaped like the 5 you saw. I just like originality and with OOTP, I get to design this cool world and see what comes of it!
