How often do records get broken in your sims?
I have noticed that in my Cubs sim (Started in 2015, now in 2073) rarely any records have been broken. A player finished his career first all times in Runs Scored, 3rd in Hits, and 4th in WAR. He is probably the best player my sim has had, and Riley Pint destroyed all the ratio records (K/9, BB/9, etc.)
Also, pour one out for Joey Gallo breaking the all time Strikeout record. Also my league finally gained a 300 game winner, hello Zack Greinke. Here is the above mentioned player. I'd love to hear everyones stories and share screenshots! |

You should be less concerned about broken records (unless that's what you want) and more interested in the 10% rule. My criteria with few exceptions is you want things to be within 10% of real life results. Keep in mind that several MLB records were established with a controlled player pool (otherwise known as segregation) so several counting stat records may not reflect reality in real life. I have two long running fictional leagues based on 2007-9 MLB stats with some interesting records. Do they make the 10% rule every time? No, but those outliers are no different than Babe Ruth or Ty Cobb or any number of pitchers IMO.
FWIW ![]() Edit: let's have a quiz. Which league was started earlier in the OOTP development cycle. Edit 2: I may have misinterpreted the OP and responded strongly. Sorry about that. I see you were looking for feedback.

Oh I wasn't complaining or anything at all. I just found it interesting that in 60 years mostly no major records were broken

In my experience the game doesn't produce as many outliers as you see in reality. This effects every level: game, season, and career. For example, in my current league I've played 20 seasons and only one pitcher has had more than 15 Ks in a game--Strasburg in 2015.

Records don't get broken even in real life that easily. When you get that one special pitcher and hitter you just hope they have a long injury free career. With that a chance to challenge the record. Have had several hit the 3000 hit parade one maybe 2 300 wins 1 over 5000 Ks

Mickey Mantle just set my game's single season records for BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, R, TB, HR, RBI, and WAR with an unbelievable age 24 season in the 33rd season of my random debut historical league. Probably set it for WPA (10.6) too, but OOTP doesn't seem to track that (at least that I can find). Screenshot of my Season & Career Records below. This happened in a league where the MLB average was .261/.324/.385/.709, and the HR/AB rate was 0.02215, while Mantle's was 0.10660 - somebody find this guy another league. Man, I wish I'd been alive to watch him IRL. Good grief!

In my ABF league Ruth is the all time HR king at 1081. Since I import historical players using neutralized stats, it will be interesting to see if Elvis as Hank Aaron will break that record.
For my EBL vs MLB league, many players are edited, so records fall often. Brett Bremer recently broke the single season RBI record while with the ChiSox at 198. The EBL record was set 2 seasons ago at 254. Best hitting streak is 35 games since 1999 held by 5 players across 3 different ML's.

Playing modern day, I'm in 2030, and the only records broken in my sim are 247 strikeouts by George Springer in 2017 and 2700 career strikeouts by Joey Gallo. Nobody has even come close to any others.

Boooo (and I'm a sox fan)
Those stats are incredible he just had one of those unreal seasons. Typically in my games I don't see a lot of records broken though in my Indians game before it got ruined Trout was heading towards top 5 WAR of all time. And David Dahl had a 10.5 WAR season. Some of those records though as said before are just unbreakable.

There have been a total of 7 50+ HR seasons, only 5 of those by AI generated players. The highest HR total is 59 in 2018 by Dustin Fowler for the Rockies. The highest HR total by an AI generated player is 53. Looking at the season & career records tab, the only batting record broken is strike outs (both single season & career). For pitching Aroldis Chapman has the career record for HA/9, K/9, and opponents avg. One AI-generated player did manage to break the K/9 for a season record for the only other pitching record change. Most Ks in a game is 18, accomplished once in 70 years. Last edited by Ron.; 03-04-2016 at 01:47 PM. |
