I went to the opening day game around 1990 (?) when Buckner came back to the sox. He was so gimpy but hit one down towards Pesky's pole that the right fielder misplayed completely (dove and hit his head on the wall) and Buck limped his way around the bases for an inside the park homer.

That will have to replace the memory of 1986 for me

Yeah. I remember that. It was so *interesting* that someone who could barely walk would get an inside the parker...ah...Bill Buckner.

'86? I don't recall what you are talking about. (see? I've already blocked it from my memory.)

Free agent period:

$$ left = [Last year marketing revenue + Last year Gate revenue + This year TV contract + Cash] - [salary of players on the team + salary of players that have a contract offer + salary of coaches]

Signing free agents during season:

$$ left = [Last year marketing revenue + Last year Gate revenue + This year TV contract + Cash] - [salary of players on the team + salary of coaches]

Hope that helps!

Playoff revenue is not used, it only influences your cash when proceeding to the next season.

Thanks Scott -- I do know where those numbers come from -- I just meant laying it out a little more clearly in the game would be a good thing. Essentially so that you don't have to do all those calculations yourself.

Fernando Vina did that earlier this year... was in a slump, so he shaved off the goatee right before a Saturday game.

The next day, I was watching the game with my girlfriend, and since Vina's her favorite player, I mentioned that he'd shaved the goatee.

Game starts, Vina leads off, and damned if it wasn't (mostly) back already.

The other day I wrote a quick little Java hack that pulled out the salary information and projected the next season's payroll. I then went on to win 50 straight World Championships, not losing one until I forgot to use my live Java utility.

So I guess that says it very well may make the game too easy.

I've been asking for this feature for years. To me, I think it's a MUST have

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.
