For the learning impaired I will explain: The data is based on games started. Not games played. It includes games started so users can 1)see how MLB players are rated in the new game 2)so users can run quick test leagues in a familiar environment 3)data is only from users who allow OOTPD access to it.

It doesn't indicate what you think it does.
More denial. See the quote from Markus in my signature.

You act like there are sides here. There are not. There's only the facts.

You can try to wish/spin/rationalize/deny them away all that you want. It will not work. If the numbers were reversed, and modern and historical players were outnumbered three to one by fictional players instead of the other way around and they were trying to spin the facts the way that you people are, you would be flat-out laughing at them.

But don't let reality stop the denial party. Keep on spinning.

I will say this I did start a modern era game with the Padres But I set the start date in 1950 and erased all league history and playing time. So it's basically a fresh fictional league. I even deleted every player that the game started with an entered all fictional players So Markus is right in that regard but I basically turned into a fictional league. And here's the thing even nonfictional league eventually become fictional because even if you start in 2015 10 seasons in most of the real players will be gone and be replaced with fictional players unless you keep starting a new game every time a new version of the cane comes out 10 seasons in most of the real players will be gone and be replaced with fictional players unless you keep starting a new game every time a new version of the game comes out so your league never goes out that far.

I don't think OOTP should try to cater to its fictional users. I'm pretty sure that all OOTP users are at least 99% real.

Yes and many (most?) nonfiction players stop playing leagues that become fictional. That's why I always have historical games gong so I can switch over and not finish my real league too soon.

I read it the first time: spin, denial and rationalization. The numbers are in: modern and historical play are three times as popular as fictional. Deal with it.

You must be dyslexic because that isn't what the data says. You are like a little kid sticking his fingers in his ears and shouting because he can't handle any version of reality but his own.

More insults. The data, as I have been telling you over and over, is real. Your attempts to spin, deny, and rationalize it are all fictional. I realize that the facts distress you and upset your view of the OOTP world, but facts do that to some people. Modern and historical play are three times as popular as fictional play is, and the average OOTP user plays his favorite team in the modern era.

I don't connect with the players, teams, anything. Whenever I play a standard MLB game though, it's players I know, leagues, teams, everything that I know. I get some immersed in the game world that I go hours and hours playing. I never do that with a fictional game.

How do you guys stay immersed in a fictional set up? How do you care about your players and leagues?

The best way to play fictional leagues(and have it stay interesting) is never play the exact same league twice. Always add expansion teams or move teams to another conference.

a.)Take 5 players from the best team and put them on the worst team.
b.)Edit the schedule on a daily basis. Schedule double-headers .
c.)Add games to the beginning and ending of the season. Keeping the same 162 game or whatever amount of games are played.
d.)Schedule games on the off days between the all-star game.
e.)Have a team start the regular season or end of the regular season with 5 straight double-headers.
f.)import MLB seasons from the past and add the players into the mix of a modern fictional league

The first page of the dynasty thread shows that over 50% of current dynasties are fictional.

That's a fact, by the way.

And the data shows that the vast majority of OOTP users never post here. Another fact.
