I've been playing The Show since it started. It's a great series, but I've become increasingly interested in front office dealing over the years. The Show's franchise offering just isn't deep enough fulfill that interest anymore. This will be the first year that I'll be passing (most likely, there's always RTTS) in favor of OOTP.

Never been a console guy. Too unrealistic, arcadish. My young grandkids play console games, and that seems to be the bulk of the market. Games are loud, colorful, stupid to us grownups, but keeps them occupied.

About 2 months ago i bought MLB The Show '15 for my nephews PS4. Problem is i hardly play it. It is connected to his tv in the basement. We tend to work the same schedule so when i get home from work he is playing other games and i prefer OOTP. The Show does have a cool feature that makes me wish Markus would bring back ITP. There are aspects i like of each game.

I've never played The Show (heck, I don't even own a PS3 or 4), but I've played a few other console games (MLB Power Pros, MLB 2K), and other than MLB Power Pros' Success Mode, OOTP blows each of those games out of the water. Can't wait to get 17.

I go back and forth. At times I have the itch to play and control the players but it tends to get to easy and unrealistic. I can have guys hit 100 HRs in a season on MLB the show.
OOTP to me is better because it's more detailed and realistic. I like how I have the feel of really being in the front office and of course while I'm sitting down watching the O's managing my own team makes it all the better.

They complement each other well. I get The Show for Diamond Dynasty but get OOTP for everything else. The Show is a great game but for me OOTP just has so much more depth and replayability

I mainly play OOTP. I do have the show and periodically play it. The visual is nice but from a management simulation and complete immersion point nothing even comes close to OOTP

Well done. MLB Power Pros was the biz!!!!! That game was so much fun and the fact that it had real players was amazing. Thank you for reminding me of how awesome that game was.

The Show is far from unrealistic. Hitting 100 HR's in a season is easy do if you don't change the sliders and settings to make it harder for you.

Besides OOTP (which you can't really compare to The Show) The Show is the most realistic game on the market.

Seems like an apples to oranges comparison. They're both based on the same sport, but what they try to accomplish is vastly different. Both games compliment each other very well, with OOTP providing great GM management play and The Show providing excellent "in-game" play.

Hahaha, that's so me! I order The Show every year, play it a couple of hours, suck on the easiest difficulty and then it vanishes in some corner.

The graphics are pretty cool though. Imagine we could have such a 3D engine to display the stuff our simulation spits out... oh well, in a few years we may just have something similar

I play both every year. They both satisfy a very different itch for me.

If you had a 3D engine like the show displaying information from the OOTP stats engine I think I would spontaneously combust into cloud of money that would rain into your bank account.

Yep.
But the room you live in Markus is getting smaller and smaller by the year.
You are running out of space real fast!
Very soon, OOTP will be perfect!
Then what are you gonna do?

I am actually new to the show as I started with the show '14. I have to say I like both but for different reason not mentioned.

I played the show in manager mode, and find it a really enjoyable experience with adjustments done to it. There is something awesome about visually seeing your 3rd baseman make a diving play on a grounder and then come up to his feet and throw the runner out at 1st. It can be frustrating when great defense happens against your team but it is a joy to watch. Some of the flaws that hold it back from being a great coaches sim is that you have to find the correct sliders in order to get realistic results and the "quick pitch" mode makes in game strategy difficult.

I like with ootp that you can create your own virtual baseball world, and that you can great realistic result without making any adjustments. I personally cannot really recall any bonehead AI moves like I can with the show.

In the end I think there is room in any persons library for both games. I find if you like the in-game drama the show can get you going and if you like the game outside the game, then ootp can keep you entertained.
