The Show Vs. OOTP

This is just a poll to see how many people still play MLB The Show and OOTP, or JUST OOTP.

Me personally, despite the graphics and on field gameplay and presentation of The Show, it just doesn't stack up to everything OOTP offers and does. (does very well I might add)

From fiances to the off-season to player progression and stat tracking. Everything in OOTP just seems to be everything a baseball lover could dream of. Not taking anything away from the guys over at SCEA, but the guys here at OOTP have caused me to stop playing my favorite console game in favor of their text sim.

Every time I play the Show, I see so many things missing that OOTP has and it just turns me completely off. What camp are you guys in? Or have you never even played The Show?

Sometimes I wish I could play console games, but I flat out stink, so I don't even try.

Never been a console guy, been playing on the PC since being 12(that's a long time ago).

I would play the Show when is rolls out on PC(which will never happen I guess)

I like both. I play a ridiculous amount of OOTP, but there's something nice about hitting the crap out of the ball on a console that really relieves some stress/anger. Also road to the show is an amazing feature and MLB today or whatever they call it is fun too.

Really I just love both games though.

Yeah it's two different styles and don't compare well. The show is focused on playing as players and ootp is managing. They scratch different itches and complement each other.

I own a PS4 just to play MLB the Show. It's the only game I bought for it, and I only play it in RTTS mode. For everything else, there's OOTP.

I have to wait four to five years for my sister to buy my nephew a gaming system. My wife has said no!

I haven't bought The Show in a couple years. I like it for what it is. The RTTS mode is pretty fun. It's just different fun. Though my overall console sports gaming has dwindled a lot over the last few years. I maybe buy one per year at this point. Madden was the only one I bought last year. Might rotate to a soccer game this year.

I haven't played The Show since the ps4 came out. Never upgraded from the ps3 and frankly haven't missed it, much . Don't get me wrong Show is a great game, best button pusher ever IMHO, but ...I never completed a whole season in all the versions I played. It is massively fun to be in the batters box and hit a third deck shot but in the end it eats a lot of time with no real end reward, at least to me. YMMV.

The majority of time I played The Show is now mostly divided between OOTP and playing my guitars. Both of those activities leave me with a sense I've done something where The Show was a "time filler".

I will admit though whether in a store or online there have been many times I have almost picked up a ps4 and The Show because it really is that much fun. But I think of how many hours a week it will take from what I am now doing or that it could just end up only being played a very few times and sit in the corner.

This. Unfortunately, OOTP has ruined the franchise mode of The Show, exposing lack of depth and lack of realism past year 1.

Thumbs up

Don't play console games, like the way OOTP makes you think and plan.
Also the myriad of ways to set up the game. I am intrigued by 17, I think I will first import my fictional league to my PC. After much consternation and foul language trying to get the set up with all the mods I will begin a historical league in 1920 with all the minors with my 2nd copy on my Surface Pro 3. Once the season starts I may play the 2016 MLB season.

The only reason I play The Show is RTTS. There's no equivalent to it in the OOTP experience, just like there's no equivalent to all the customization options that OOTP features in the The Show's offerings. Both scratch two separate itches.

To be fair the show or any counsel baseball game it's just a completely different genre I would even call it a rival to order the part basebal to be fair the show or any counsel baseball game it's just a completely different genre I would even call it a rival to OOTP. Their biggest rival is baseball Mugul diamond how they sell more games according to their website is beyond me OOTP is a far superior game

As mentioned above, I love to smack the virtual ball. And RTTS is fun (Road to the Show: where u become a prospect and build your skills on a AA or AAA team to hopefully make to the 'Show' , and excel there to. Love hitting in Major League ballparks☺️

But as pointed out above, two completely different genres.

I don't play OOTP exclusively, but my preference is for the season replay games, which I've been involved with since I bought my first APBA game back when there were 16 major league teams. I play those on the computer now. At one time or another, I've played a dozen of those, and OOTP matches up very well.
