Yep, I couldn't agree more. Out of the race, trade older guys with big contracts or guys that they can't or won't resign this off season for whatever prospects they can get and teams trading prospects to get those guys as "summer rentals" to fill holes because of slumps or injuries.

This makes me feel good about 17 (not that I didn't already!) because PSUColonel is more than willing to criticize where he thinks it's warranted.

Yep, I've seen this too--though mostly with the Dodgers, who have gone plenty berserk with money in the real world. I just used their fowl-up to my advantage--when they realized there was no reason to have Adrian Gonzales and Mike Napoli on the roster, I traded them RA Dickey for Napoli straight-up, then flipped Napoli and a solid-but-unspectaular reliever to the Nationals for Gio Gonzales.

And will we be able to edit them? Will there be a way to import Gm traits of historical GM's or at least modern GM's? Either for 17 or 18?

I don't get it.
What is the issue?
The STL Cardinals have one of the best, if not, THE best front office in baseball.
The Redbirds get injuries to key players every year and what do they do?
Win the NL Central division AGAIN!
I'm not a Cards fan, but it must be nice knowing that every single season, is just another chance at winning a World Series title.
Boring!

Exactly. I've posted about this issue for the last 2-3 versions of the game and keep being told it is unrealistic. Yet it happens every trade deadline. Love to see it in the game.

I would also like to add, this is on average difficulty.

EDIT: in fact, I believe the trade AI makes the upgrade worthy in and of itself.

Why should the Cardinals spend money?

They'll just have a new wave of players who with Cardinal magic will be all stars no matter what they were projected to be in the minors (Matt Carpenter anyone) and have their talent magically disappear just as easily if they ever leave the Cardinals. (Albert Pujols, Allen Craig, Joe Kelly)

Just a jealous Reds fan who thought we are the new young team taking the Central from the Cards for the next few years back in 2010 and now looking at 100-110 losses while the Cards continue winning a 100 every year, and their fans still complain. With four pennants and two titles in the last twelve years.

"If you're unlucky, you might have 29 Theo Epsteins."

They'll claim they can build a winner without spending money then slash payroll 10's of millions below where their mega market team should be in payroll. After a few years of that, they'll spend 1/4 of the accumulated savings on some superstars. Then when they get to the playoffs everyone will declare "see, you can build a winner without spending a lot of money".

I will put my two cents in. I would also like to see selloffs, player rentals during the last year in the contract, etc.
