Well, Sir, everyone likes to jump on the NY Yankees bandwagon when they win.
I guess if you are not a Yankee fan, you root for the LA Dodgers.
The SF Giants fans are enjoying a bit of a golden age, since they have won 3 out of the last 5 WS.
And I guess CHI Cubs fans are just gluttons for punishment.
IDK.
I don't much about the STL Cardinals fans, except that the Redbirds always seem to win the division all the time.
But us blue collar NY Mets fans, we are just a different type of breed.

Plenty of us Red Sox fans as well, Wolf. The Red Sox are basically the magnum opus in the great "What If?" symphony that is the history of Major League Baseball, so it's only logical.

Any chance of seeing a short video clip of the moving pawns making plays prior to pre order deadline?

I think the Red Sox are an amazing team to watch. They get a new GM, he sets a plan to build from within, the owner grows impatient and forces the GM to buy some high-priced free agents, the free agents are a disaster, the Sox finish last, the GM is fired, and the circular drama begins anew. Plus there is a mixture of exciting young talent with just flat horrible veterans. At least the Sox finally decided to spring for enough money to get an ace for the pitching staff.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I'll ask the same two questions I asked at this time last year when 16 was coming out:

1) I have a league that began in OOTP14 and has been imported/updated into 15 and 16, and will be imported into 17. I play everything in real time. Meaning, I've been playing computer baseball now for about 28 years and I have played exactly 28 seasons. So I don't want to start a new league, or I would lose everything I've manually built into my league for, literally, all my gaming life. But this means I cannot have access to the draft database of real names, and must draft all fictional players every year. Does 17 have the functionality to allow me to basically merge the draft list that ships with this game with the league I've been running now since OOTP14? And if not, can this *please* happen next year?

2) Will we be able to call specific pitches (fastball, screwball, etc.) when playing out a game pitch-by-pitch?

One thing I'm hoping for in OOTP17 is that the team register cap has been increased from 1000. It's not a game killer by any means for me, but I would like to see every single player that has played for the franchise when I look on the register (even if that number is above 1000) as if a player has a surname that begins late in the alphabet they won't show up on the team register.

This needs its own thread. I completely agree.

Disable Trade deadline date so Trading can happen all year round.
Fix Associations so like Rule 5 Draft can still happen but not in December but after Association Postseason is over.

Another Mets fan here.

No wonder it's impossible to get the Mets in a new online league

Unfortunately this is impossible to fix due to technical reasons.

Disappointing to hear but understandable, thanks for the reply Markus . Hopefully one day the technical reasons won't be an issue, very much looking forward to OOTP17 regardless!

When can we see a video of the new field play with the little icons moving around?

Looking forward to much needed redesign work whenever that happens.

Not a lot of these features look useful to online players outside of recaps. Hope there's more to be revealed.

In OOTP16 there was an inconsistency with rankings of players in the amateur draft from year to year. Once you got a number of years into your game there were only a handful of players who had more than a 2 star rating, after which every player had very similar scouting reports, kind of taking away the point of going through more than 1 or 2 rounds before autodrafting. Is this going to be any different in 17?

I would cry if this happened... like tears of joy...

I'm an Indians fan living in Chicago and lived through the torturous close calls of '94, '97 (shudders) and '07 where they should have won 2 of those.

I also root for the Cubs out of the National League unless they are playing the Indians as I have a mutual hatred for all things White Sox with Cubs fans.

Edit: And yes, rooting for the two teams with the longest championship droughts probably does make me a masochist of some sort.
