OOTP 16 Draft Past Stars as Relievers?

Thinking of picking up OOTP 16, I have 15 and notice when I have a draft that some of the top starters such as Guidry, Pedro or many others will have a stamina of only around 20 so they are considered relievers.

These would never be drafted right away and I always felt I was cheating to choose them all up in the first three rds as the AI would never pick them. Has this been corrected in OOTP 16 or does this still continue?

This is due to your player import settings.

Also, the AI is noticeably bad with recalc enabled, because it can't see the future stats of players but you can.

Thanks for your time, can you elaborate a little bit regarding which player import settings might lend itself towards this outcome, I'd be happy to toy around with some and then view some drafts.

Usually it's an issue with importing stamina as rookies only. I'd advise "entire career" for pitchers, so that you don't get reliever Pedro Martinez or starter Mariano Rivera.

Only problem with entire career is that Smoltz will not serve as a CL. Eck will never be a starter. i use imported season with 1 yr recalc and never have had a problem with historical with those 2 players. Smoltz was a CL/MR for 3-4 seasons and Eck moved to the pen around 1988. Now in most RD leagues i will use entire career especially when I have Eck on my teams because i prefer him as a CL for his career. i do prefer fielding for entire career,

Check the box "Use pre-defined draft value for AI" and that will stop. I just had Chuck Finley enter the game as a reliever for the first two years of his career, but he was taken as the number 1 overall pick thanks to that setting, and Kevin Brown was taken right behind him at number 2 overall, also as a relief pitcher for the first year of his career. You'll find it at League Settings > Rules > Amateur Draft Settings.
