maybe this is only for real player inaugurals...

rounds in the teens, 20's, 30's and 40's are cookie cutter picks. you can get all the players you want, essentially (maybe miss out on a couple picthing prospects picked before the teens). so, it's not just the relievers that are left on the board in a consistent manner.

a little more variation between teams would probably make that task more difficult. i can get out of the draft with 20-30 (depends on any excess depth taken) 61-80 potential prospects on top of 100+ win mlb team the first year and a little bit of depth in positions where the better prospects are too young.

Well, the thing is that you'll never get a perfect AI here since it's entirely subjective what's a good approach and what not. The AI already uses its GM's personality & preferences for the picks, so you do have variety in there, plus some randomness of course.
