Player evaluation AI Settings question

Really simple question - at what point does the "current year" become "previous year?" Presumably if it's at some stage during the off-season or pre-season it's an idea to temporarily move the current year weight to 0%?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Its pro rated. Current year becomes previous year when the player get the appropriate number of AB's (or I think it's PA's) so current year wont technically start until months into the season for every day players.
