Potential Bug?
I didn't think this was a bug until it started happening over and over.
In historical mode (88-93 so far) I have begun to notice about 3-4 "blue-chip prospects" being released by their teams every year since ~1990 following the most recent drafts. When I check their histories, it says that they were drafted, signed to contracts and then released anywhere from a month to a year after being signed. If I recall correctly, one player in particular, Adrian Aucoin (a fairly accomplished NHLer during his career, having played in the league for 18 years), had been drafted 15th overall by Toronto, signed, released 6 months later, signed by the Islanders, and then released a month later. Being in commissioner mode, I moved the players to the most needy teams, but after three seasons of doing that its just an annoyance at this point. Has anyone else encountered this? |

I'll check it out. We've made a bunch of progress in that area (the historical AI was much worse about dumping prospects a couple of updates back), but it looks like we still have some work to do.

Something similar is happening in my fictional league test. Top prospects get signed, then released on the same day or a few days after.

just started a new 2015 v2.4.29 game as Pens GM and on the first day i was able to offer an ELC to Eliteprospects.com - Joel Eriksson Ek
His NHL rights should be with the Wild

The problem might be Roster Rules can't change it in first season.

Has the bug I presented been figured out? I tried playing again and started with a new game and once again 4-5 blue chip prospects each year that had signed contracts had been released by their teams, including a player taken first overall.

Not yet, and it'll take a while to get it into an update when it is. Which player development mode are you using, by the way - annual recalculation or the regular FHM development system?

Thanks. I suspect what we're going to have to do here is combining this fix with the one that also makes teams tend to keep players they've recently traded for/signed as a free agent. Hopefully in the next patch, Markus has given me some suggestions about how he accomplishes that in OOTP.

I wouldn't expect a complete fix for this, this is something that will be adjusted over many patches over many months. It's not a bug in the way you just have a fix and its all better .
