Assistant GM - Trustworthy?
Assuming my Assistant GM is "Good" or better, can I trust delegating Minor League player duties (callups/send-downs, signings/cuts) to him?
I've handled all of this so far, but I want to ask you all before I take a risk of him cutting all my prospects! |

I have set it all to manual, but every once in a while I "let AI set up complete minor league system/line-ups etc." or whatever the option is called.
I also have some prospects excluded from promotion/demotion to keep them at a certain level. I don't trust the assistant GM in general and don't have one at my current Team. Last edited by Curveball; 11-24-2015 at 04:40 AM. Reason: stupid autocorrect... |

yeah... they make really dumb decisions and do not plan well financially - *compared to most humans.
their preference has a significant effect. look it up in the manual, i don't want to misinform you. i believe tools gets you more superstar prospects but less consistency? they go for the proverbial homerun more often. fyi about minors, if you want to make sure the high potential players start over currently better rated players, there is a setting for that. league settings - stats & AI - left pane of that screen. i think you need comissioner mode on, and it is not visible when the major league is selects, so use the dropdown box to select your various minor leagues and check that box for each. i would suggest controlling promotins and demotions, though. you can still do this with little effort. micromanage promotion of average or better prospects (~45-to-50 out of 80), but do the rest on a yearly basis and check after promoting your better prospects to fill holes. most 21-30potential players will never make it. so, if they are overqualified at any particular level, that is a good thing for your better prospects. their morale will be higher, coaches get good reputations, and other benefits that you can take advantage of. after spring training, i reconfigure and let the AI seupt the minors (the latter half season leagues do not need a full team at this point) and do any yearly promotions. then, after the draft i put them in their proper minor league, and allow the ai to redo linups and pitching once again. check real prospects - beginning of year, after the draft, ~1 months after draft, and at the end of the season. make sure that at any point in the year, they are in the correct tier. i don't know how the offseason affects development in the minors, but if they are in the wrong tier, it may slow down growth as it does during the season. everyone else: once or twice a year and any time you need to fill a hole from promoting a real prospect. don't bother with rookie/short a before the draft. setting minor league's up and promotions might take 5-10mins per simulated season. nice and easy.
