Will his decline start at age 35 or 36? That's the question that we just paid a steep price to answer. I will try and remain upbeat - it's a move and it involved the bullpen!

I want to hear how Norris is doing.

I agree, I hope we don't see a repeat of Nathan. That being said, #11 prospect in the Tigers system doesn't scream super stud.

What did y'all think of the guy we got for Soria getting a 50 game drug suspension? Not for a performance drug, but a recreational one.

Apparently the White Sox are open to dealing away Avisail Garcia. If the asking price isn't too steep, I wonder if the Tigers should make an offer? Now that Fielder and his wife are no longer an issue, he might be a nice fit in the outfield.

Not sure what they have left to offer but sure!

The ‪#‎Tigers‬ announced today that the club has acquired OF Cameron Maybin from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for LHPs Ian Krol & Gabe Speier.

++++++++++++

I have no idea who Maybin is but I can get used to seeing Krol warm up in someone else's bullpen.

Ha, he played in Detroit in 2007. Not very excited other than seeing Krol gone. That was worth the price of admission.

I guess Maybin takes over the Rajai Davis half of the CF platoon? I like this deal. Getting anything for Krol has to be a win.

Tigers sign Jordan Zimmerman to 5y/$110m deal.

Report: Detroit Tigers ink free agent pitcher Jordan Zimmermann

That's a lot of cabbage.

I guess this is the cost of doing business....

Money aside, that's a really good get for Detroit.

Now I REALLY like having Norris and Boyd. Time will tell if Toronto's rental turns out to be as expensive as when the Tigers rented Doyle Alexander.

Detroit Tigers cut ties with relievers Neftali Feliz, Al Alburquerque | MLive.com

I always hoped Al-Al would be someone good, but alas...

Hmmm. Al is one that I would have actually wanted to keep. Maybe the only one.

Oh come on! No one wants to remind me how good a deal that was for the Tigers because they wouldn't have made the playoffs without him? Then I'd get to say that I can't blame them yadda yadda and it made sense at the time but hindsight should be 20-20 and you can't say from this vantage point that it was a good deal.

I've had that conversation with Tigers fans for nearly 25 years now and was looking forward to it again tonight. You guys really disappoint me.

Boyd's nothing special. We'll see how Norris and Labourt do. I really like Van Norrison, but I'm no prospect maven.

Agree on Norris, not sure on Boyd yet. The little that I saw him pitch, I liked his look and mechanics - don't count him out. Then again, I thought Nate Robertson 'looked' like he had great potential too so ...

In any event, I absolutely love having these prospects in the fold rather than a 30 year pitcher with a 7 year 217mil deal in front of him; or nothing because he wasn't re-signed.

I love it when I see deals like that Price deal and then I hear Sox fans (or fans of whatever gigantic market team) tell me how it really is a fair game. By love I mean HATE.

I mean, when a market the size of Detroit has no shot at a guy, because idiots are handing out $217/7 year contracts to 30 year old pitchers, and feel no repercussions, that's insane.

That said, Detroit is better off without Price if that's his cost. One can only hope that the type of Raul Mondesi Sr. (Yankees) and Kung Fu Panda deals will be genuine anchors to their employers one day, rather than minor annoyances.

When 2/3 of the teams or more cant take what would be a franchise killing risk while the others can, it is a huge problem.

If the Royals hadn't just won the Series, and had just lost 102 games, I'd be beside myself. As it is, I'm only extremely annoyed at the inequities of the situation.

Boston's still looking for returns on Hanley ($88M/4) and Pablo ($95M/5). Now they add Price ($217M/7), and voila $400M on three players. Ok, I'm just a jealous, bitter Jays fan.
