Is there a way to filter through every player in the game in the same style as the free agent centre?

Even though you can't sign players from the KHL, there's still a lot of talent out in Europe that you can't easily find other than trawling through every league and actually eyeballing them.

In other sporting sims you're able to search through the entire database and find whoever you want to find, not just the free agents but also the ones that are currently on a contract so you can shortlist them or sign them outright. I know EHM has that function, so I was wondering why FHM doesn't have it.

Naturally it's still dependant on scouting levels and such, but it beats having to look through every major league and hoping to find that 4/5a talent in the masses of players.

It would be nice if there was a way to filter through every player in the world, or perhaps all players in/of a specific nation, and so forth.

In the new update you could add and option when looking at RFA's class so you could trade for his rights and not only offer sheet him.

I really miss the same filter search for staff, it´s a hard work going through all to find what you looking for. A filter where you can choose staff stats would help a lot!

If your in the trade offer screen theres an option to see which players the opposing team has rights to. For example: "Islander's Player Rights" you should see unsigned rfa's there

Dear FHM - Any suggestions to the quandry I asked Duranium about below? Has anyone else been able to get 1920x1200 backgrounds to work? Just the bg_startscreen is what will show as the background in the game screen at this screen size.

Can I create a relegation based league using current nhl teams and players? I see in a couple European leagues it is setup for relegation. Also in the league rules you can see an area that shows relegation but I cant seem to edit info. If not currently available it would be a nice addition in the future.

Has anyone seen a guy win the playoff mvp that wasn't a defense man? Eichel just had a crazy playoffs. 32 points in 23 games with 6 game winning goals and a 92 GR. Also scored 8 points in the finals but still lost to his defensive team mate. What's a brother gotta do? Haha.

After you resize it, you're saving it in .PNG format, right? That's the most obvious problem I can think of. If that's not it, we'll have to do some investigating.

Not possible right now, it requires some extra coding and work in the database to set up, particularly in a league as complex as the NHL. Agreed that it'd be very nice to have in the future, although it might make more sense when the financial model is developed a bit more so we can better model dropoffs/increases in fan support due to relegation/promotion.

Yeah, seems to be a little too pro-defenceman now, the shorter number of games seems to favour them somehow vs. the calculation for regular season MVP, which is basically the same except for an adjustment for being on the winning team. I'll try to adjust it a little.

I'll see if we can add that. Although there is the free agents section of the Personnel screen right now, that'll let you sort unsigned staff by (non-numerical) skill levels.

Only july first you can edit some options.There are a couple check boxes. Free agents and Restricted free agents. What does unchecking them do? Does it stop players from going to free agency?

Does anyone know what makes a good Head Coach? And I don't mean 'win games'.

What skills are important for HC's, Player Management seems like the obvious choice. And perhaps decent scouting ratings too, maybe offensive and defensive skills will make them actually good at producing results?

Right now I have no idea what will make the difference between a bad and a good HC

Jeff - yes, they are in .png....in the arena backgrounds folder within the saved games graphics folder and in Majors.quick / Opening Day.quick folders....I named properly, i.e anaheim_ducks_1920.png......as stated, the 1280 backgrounds that are also in those folders work fine when I change my screen to that size. If it works for you and others maybe I have my own special issue ??

Removing RFA's should deactivate NHL-style RFA rules where teams retain rights to some players after their contracts expire but these players can be signed to offer sheets.

Removing UFA's should make all free agents RFA's, i.e. they have their rights retained by their formerly-contracted.

Removing both should result in player rights being retained by their former teams, but no offer sheet options.

Scouting and player management are actually more relevant to general managers. The offensive, defensive, physical, and positional ratings are the most important individual ratings for coaches right now, as they affect player development. Tactical differences between coaches are mainly limited to preferences at the moment, there's no difference in, for example, line-matching abilities between individual coaches.
