Exclamation Boone to New York WHY?

The Yanks get Boone and Gabe White, they give Claussen and Cash. Why get Boone? What are you going to do with Ventura.. Im guessing trade him for an OF? With the trade I'm also going to asume the Yankees have no faith in Drew Henson ever becoming something great. I do not really like this deal. If you wanted some one to replace Ventura, why not with untill the off season and do the trade?

boone adds speed, power and is very good defensively. ESPN said Ventura may go to LA. I guess boone would help against the yanks weakness with LH pitching?

Too bad they had to give up Claussen, but they REALLY needed a 3b, and White will help out of the pen.

I guess the Yanks offered more than the Dodgers
That was one trade I was really hoping the Dodgers could pull off.
Crap on a stick.

Yankees get Boone: good.
Yankees give up Claussen: bad.

Neither team is really going to get a crap end of this deal: the Yankees want a good veteran everyday player, which they get with Boone. The Reds want to gear up for the future, with young talent, which they get with Claussen.

Still, I'd have liked for the Yanks to keep Claussen around. He was pretty impressive in his only Yankee start.

I'm gonna cry.

I hate this trade.

No one can understand how upset I am right now.

If I end up eating my words in October b/c Boone lifted the Yanks to a championship then throw this thread back at me.

Throwing away the only pitching prospect we have (first big one since Pettitte) for a third baseman havin a lucky year (unless Bret shared his secret with Aaron...)? I hate it.

THis is gonna be another "fun" offseason with Clemens and Wells retired. Pettitte a free agent. Weaver hopefully being traded. Leiber coming back from injury and Contreras being the only guy to compliment Mussina.

...

don't get me wrong........i am glad my reds got claussen, and i would be leery of trading a pitching prospect of claussen's ability, but Boone is not having a lucky year, this is a typical year of him. He has above average power, speed, and very good defensively.

I was looking forward to Claussen making his debut, but at least the Yanks got a couple of good players for him. Not often you get 2 MLers for a prospect.

I like getting Boone. Now that Ventura has been traded, they actually got Boone and White for the price of Ventura's salary. Claussen may hurt down the line, but he may not end up turning into anything that special....who knows? Boone is a very good player and will help them offensively and defensively.....he also seems like a good guy that will fit in the clubhouse.

Silly, soulless, Yankees fans.

Boone is a great pickup, good upside, sure as hell isn't 'lucky' as he is probably one of the two or three best 3B in the national league, and if he can survive the Apple's media glare, look out!

I ****ing hate it!

The way Ventura has been playing this year, Boone replacing him is a huge upgrade.

Boone is indeed an upgrade compared to Ventura.

But, the Yanks were doin just fine with Ventura struggling.

The Yanks didn't need offense. Especially not Boone's. IMO he is having a lucky year. Say what you want, but the stats show it. (IMO obviously).

Pitching. That's all i gotta say...

I've never really been that much of an Aaron Boone fan myself, I always just called him the "Rally Killer". It seems like every game I always watched he would come up with the bases loaded and proceed to hit into a double play on the first pitch (even if the pitcher had thrown 12 straight balls) and would always seem to strike out when making contact would of scored a run. He's a free swinger takes very few walks and strikes out quite a bit.
