Defensive replacement setting
When I specify that a defensive replacement should be brought in in the 9th with an X run lead, the replacement is made regardless of the score, even if its a blow out.
Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, I hope it can be fixed while they're fixing the pinch-hit issue. Not game-breaking, but I prefer to not use replacements in AI-run games rather than see this unrealistic usage. |

Is this really a problem? If a team is leading 9-0 at the start of the 9th inning, why not bring in defensive replacements? The starters' hitting prowess isn't likely to be needed, and they're spared a risk of injury.

It's a problem if it doesn't work as one expects it would. But on the whole of priorities, it's probably pretty small.

The option on the strategy page reads "Leading by X runs or less". Thats how its worked in past versions and how I would expect it to work, though it would be nice to have an option that specifies "any lead" if that's how you make your defensive substitutions.
No, its not a huge issue, just something that would make the game better if it worked. |

OOTP can't, of course, create an AI that is as flexible as a human being. (If it could, Markus would be bringing in a fortune from military and CIA contracts.) It would, however, be nice if one had more options for late inning replacements. I have great-field, no-hit defenders whom I'd like to put to help defend a narrow lead. And I have so-so players whom I'd be happy to put in near the end of a blow-out (for or against me) to give them some practice and spare my starters the risk of injury. The current defensive replacement options cover only a small portion of that territory.
