Will I win it all this Year?

I have an idea for new thread themes.

Will I win it all this year?

The idea is to post 5-10 screenshots of your current situation and let the community decide.

Yes or No?

Naturally, if you are not in contention then there is no point in the thread.

1. Last year's final standings in the conference. I am Philadelphia.

2. Picked up a top 10 SS free-agent with a good injury history. Most expensive contract in league history (> $1MM 1st time). Although I already had good defense up the middle I had no play-makers. The bottom of my order was very weak. This top-of-the-order bat pushes everyone down one spot. I give up a little bit of defense but gain line-up continuity.

3. Filled my power bat need and my CF need in one stroke. I traded my starting CF'er at the deadline last year and rotated corner outfielders the rest of the season. This move provides me a bona fide CF and an anchor at the clean-up spot in the line-up. The pitcher that I gave up will be replaced by the #3 prospect in the league. It was a very costly trade since it cost my #3 starter. I had the best rotation in the league and the guy I gave up is a #2 on most teams and an ace on a few. I also gave up my only legitimate catching prospect and my only legitimate 3B prospect. The two MR's that I got likely won't make it past AA.

4. New York traded the #1 overall prospect along with several other prospects for the best pitcher in the league. Although the C that they gave up is the #1 prospect in the league they won't miss him much since they already have the best catcher in the league. Now New York has the best 1-3 rotation in the league but my bottom end is better. They lost 2 key veteran OF's but found adequate replacements in free-agency.

5. I took over after the playoffs in 1959 when GM's got fired.

This is all that you get to go off of. It's a public poll so when all is said and done we can see who was right and who was wrong. Make your guess.

I'll go first.

I vote yes.

I don't have the best depth in my line-up but I do have a couple solid arms down in the farm.

I will take the field in this one. San Juan (200) and New York (180) both had bigger differentials than you (88) last year. You boosted your offense but may have lost a bit on runs allowed. Close, but no cigar.

You act like baseball is played on a computer.

I'm going with no on paper. It looks like you closed the gap, but it looks like adding Rodriguez was a good deal for New York.

The community is not impressed.

Don't forget that my young core is 1 year older.

I'll vote no. Your rotation isn't on the same level as New York's.

I like the way that you all look at it though.

It's close though.

Let's see:

I figure I would have gotten 20-25 HR between CF & SS with last years line-up. This year I'm expecting 35-45 HR's between the two.

Overall I figure an increase of 50-75 hits with 15-20 more HR's. That's like 55 runs right there. They lost about 50 runs but improved their rotation. They will save about 1 run over 35 starts.

Me
RS: +55 runs scored
RA: +15 runs allowed

Total improvement +40

Them
RS: -50 runs scored
RA: -35 runs allowed

Total decline -15

That's a 55 runs swing in my favor.

They were 89 runs favorable last year. Damn. Very close.

I'm going to have to make one more move but I can't give up anymore pitching.

I don't have enough prospects to snare a good player and I don't have enough money for another free-agent.

There's really not much more I can do except hope for a healthy season. Or try a voodoo curse on NY.

Did you get your C prospect back via Rule 5?

How did you know I picked him up via rule 5? Why would I get him back?

How do I change my vote. New CF has a diagnosis pending after a PH collision at a base.

Dammit, Markus!

I vote no. Your shortstop is involved in gang related activities, and he will be arrested in your next sim.

In the screenshot you posted it shows you adding a C with the same name as the one you traded, and indicates it was via Rule 5

I see that there now.

Should I be allowed to trade a rule 5? I thought I had to keep the guy for the year. I stole him from New York then packaged him to Cleveland. Is that ok?
