League structure changed back in offseason?

Had something weird happen in my current league, a historical replay beginning in 1973.

In the 1979 offseason, I expanded to 3 divisions in each league and moved teams around in the divisions manually. Everything was great for the 1980 season, 3 divisions, wildcards, etc.

When the 1981 season started, it has "automatically" went back to 2 divisions.

Is this a bug, or is there an option I need to change in the settings to keep the league structure the way that I put it?

If it's a historical replay, then by default the "Automatically Expand League" option will be enabled in the Historical Progression Options in your league settings. Since this also automatically progresses league structure, I'm guessing that's why it reverted back to the historically correct format in the next year.

Disabling this option should eliminate this behavior. But it will also mean that the game won't automatically introduce new expansion teams as per real history.

Great, thanks for the info. I will uncheck that, I can expand manually.

That is great info! I always wanted to play the 1940s without a WWII pulling my players, problem is too many good players that played during WWII were not playing because of past players. I wanted to create a Buffalo and Indianapolis team to fill at least 50 spots.
One day I might do it!
