Auto-DL/Call-Up Option

I love OOTP and have been playing since '10 and it gets better every year.

One aspect of the game that has been frustrating specifically in online leagues is the disabled list. Most of the online leagues I'm in sim 7 days at a time which works flawlessly with the 7 day line-ups. The only problem with it is if one of your guys goes down on the first day of the sim, you're playing a man down for an entire week which rarely happens in reality. You might be without a guy a day or two, but other than that, pro teams are able to get a new guy in there before a week has gone by.

I think a cool feature to add to the game would be some sort of automatic DL & call up option. Keep it optional so people don't have to set it up. Sort of like how with the auto-sim you can set how many days a player needs to be injured in order to stop your sim. You should be able to set how many days a player will be on the DL before you automatically send him there.

Then for the call up portion, maybe have like a call up depth chart of the top 3 pitchers you'd want called up or the top 3 hitters you'd want called up once a player was sent to the DL, that way if your #1 pitcher just pitched yesterday and you had a pitcher go down, it would choose your #2 who was more rested to come to the rescue.

I think a feature like this would really help a lot of the GMs who like to micro-manage their teams and wouldn't really effect the GMs who don't.

Actually the situation in bold happens often. Teams often go without a player for 3-5 days if they feel the injury can be treated. Keep in mind that IRL a team can't just put a guy with a bruised elbow or foot on the 15-day DL unless the doctor signs off on it. That's why the DL in-game and IRL is retroactive to the last game/day played. The PA has been known to get involved where there is a dispute about the seriousness of an injury.

Having said all that you have a valid point. In my solo leagues I can instruct the AI to exit the sim for different lengths of injury. I set it to at least a week. Online leagues should have a setting that allows for 2-week or more injuries to be forced onto the DL, with suitable transactions to follow. Not sure what I'd like for tweener injuries. It would not be realistic to have 4 day injuries end up on the 15 day DL In those cases you could have 3-4 guys end up on the DL while healthy.

i would also like the ability to schedule rehab after the DL. i've been in online leagues with 2 week sims and had a guy that would be uninjured after a day or two. if I waited until the next sim to send him to rehab, then he'd be doing nothing for 10 days. Then I would still be without him for two more weeks during the rehab sim.

Yes you are correct about my statement in the bold. I should have been more clear. I meant like when a guy goes down and the next day you already know he is going to need at least his 15 days. You don't have him hanging around on the team for the next 6 days, he is replaced within a day or so. The 4-5 day injuries, or waiting for the diagnosis I am fine with.

Yes! This would be awesome too. I can't believe I didn't include that with my initial thought. That has happened to me so much. If you lose a guy on the first day of a sim and then he comes off of the DL on the first day of a sim you just lost almost 2 extra weeks for no reason.

I have wanted in injury depth chart for a long time. MLB '05 had something similar to one, I would like it for sims longer than a week. In solo play and some online leagues I have been in the sims are longer than a week. Being a man down for 2 weeks, especially a pitcher or two, is a headache.
