I think it has to do with your manager and your team's success. I've seen a ton of issues while losing 90 games a year. If others are not and are winning... well that is probably the answer.

If you win, all is forgiven. Problems tend to melt away.

I had a case today where even though I'm playing as GM only (though it still lets me play out the games and manage those I choose to play out; I'm in commish mode so that may be the reason), my bench coach mailed me and (thank heaven for him) named the name of a pitcher who was becoming disruptive.
Was it on this thread that someone said he'd fire the bench coach on principle? If there were a mechanism, I'd thank him, or give him a raise. He told me that I didn't have enough leadership to improve the guy who was getting disruptive, that it would only get worse. He didn't say this, but I read into it that I either had to trade for a better team leader or get rid of the problem player. So I traded the problem player for a slightly lesser pitcher whose personality variables looked good. I thought that was cool. The only question it raised at all to me was why my Controlling Manager couldn't keep a lid on him (the Bench Coach, as a means to counterbalance, is Easygoing). I thought out of a Controlling Manager players, especially with low Adaptability, wouldn't be as happy, but troublemakers would also be kept under control. But I still found it an enjoyable addition on the whole. |

He works for me, and I'm glad he told me who was starting to cause trouble.
I think when someone is hurting the team, it's absolutely right to "snitch" to help the team win, and my Bench Coach laudably did so. Anti-"snitching" is for when we were kids (including college) and wanted to get away with things like underage drinking that adults didn't want us to. I agree that that sort of snitching is wrong, partly because I think adults are too strict with young people and partly because that sort of thing wasn't hurting anyone. When it comes to someone who could have ruined the team morale and made the team have ,major problems, I wish there were a way to give him a raise and let the AI "realize" that was why he earned it. I'd reward him in some way, like a raise, if I were a real life GM and the Bench Coach came to me and told me what he did. |

I've just started ignoring the e-mails. I don't think it has a profound effect on performance. This is a neat feature in principle but it was terribly executed.

Very interesting thread and relevant to my current last couple of seasons. (ML with me as Manager/GM.) Lots of bickering but 102 wins and a World Series win, though.

I really need a high-OBP outfielder and have a 1-for-1 trade (on very hard trade difficulty) lined up for high-OBP Brantley in exchange for low-OBP Marte, except Brantley is apparently a selfish jerk and half my players are already complaining there's too many of them on the team. I like the immersiveness of this feature even if it screws up my team building.

How quickly will these chemistry issues resolve among upset players, and how many guys with high "leadership" ratings do you need to bring in to resolve it? is it 1 for 1 or something like that?

I can't say it has a big effect on team performance but it does have some at least IMO. I tend to keep leadership, intelligence, work ethic as high as possible. and keep greed low. The few times I've had issues is when I've deviated from that formula for a guy or two.

I currently have some dissention. I think even a couple of the more selfish players are claiming they're unhappy with slackers and selfish players. They're either very deceptive or have a curtain on the mirror. I'm letting it go, letting the coaches do as they see fit. Think it'll pass. We've just passed the All-Star break and are clinging to first. Hoping they see the greater good.

I've got a clubhouse full of a great mix of guys. A couple guys with high leadership, no guys with incredibly low leadership. No real low work ethic guys. No really greedy guys. Nobody with crappy personalities...everyone is "Has high work ethic" or "just one of the guys" type dudes. And yet everyone is pissed off about "disruptive influences on the team". And its not just my major league squad. ALL of my farm system has this too. Also, every player I try and trade for is angry about something. It seems to be a bug.
