Develop a prospect as hitter and pitcher?

I just drafted a player (18 year old out of high school) that had very good stats in HS as both a hitter (SS) and pitcher. His ratings are better as a pitcher, though only slightly.

I would like to try and develop him both as a SS and a P. Is this possible? If so - how? If I set his position as SS and do a Force to Start, it doesn't seem to allow me to put him in as a P; same thing if I set him as a pitcher. Other than changing him back and forth, is there a way to do that?

No way to do this, unfortunately -- I suppose you could try changing his position in alternate years, or strictly rationing his playing time, but OOTP 16 doesn't handle two-way players that well.

You can do it, but you need to control the lineups daily (usually through 7-day lineups) for the minor league team he is on. I've had the most success doing this by using a six-man rotation, giving the dual player two days off after his start, then playing him in the field for three straight days before he pitches. I've never done it with a shortstop, though, so I'm not sure if that would change things.

And you need to keep his position listed as pitcher.

I am trying to do this for one of my prospects. I played him in the minor leagues as a pitcher for 2 years, and now I set his position to 2B. My plan is to have him be a pitcher because my fictional league now has pitchers hitting in the lineup. However, his potential is low for a pitcher, and his potential as a hitter is much greater. So now I regret it already, and I will probably just have him be a hitter.
