Hey guys,

We have just released the 6th update for OOTP 16, version number 16.6.30. It adds new features, has plenty of AI improvements and fixes reported bugs. We strongly recommend to update your copy to this version.

Info for online leagues: The file format changed in this patch, so commishes please make sure everyone of the league uses the same version.

Update Info: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Patches always contain all the changes from previous patches / updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Here are the improvements / fixes compared to version 16.5.23:
- Added dynamically generated hint / loading text based on the currently loaded game
- Emphasized leaders for batting & pitching stats in player screen
- Added pitcher WAR to team register history
- Allow separate overall and potential scales
- If not displaying current ratings, show potential ratings on player lists instead
- Improved game substitution logic
- Improved depth chart logic
- Improved lineup logic
- Added option to use 40-man roster for playoff roster eligibility
- Implemented playoff injury rules (players may be placed on DL in playoffs and replaced, but must miss the next series)
- Removed ability to use the DL in the off-season (players must be activated)
- Added quick accounting widget to finances screen
- Generate HTML game logs by default
- Fixed custom create game crash
- Fixed bug where remove DH would not work in game
- Fixed issue where custom lineup would be placed in wrong spot in 7-day lineup
- Fixed issue where custom lineup would give an incorrect error
- Fixed 1942-1945 league total stats
- Fixed error of double counting draft offers
- Fixed park factor for batter WAR calculations
- Added Batting runs to sortable player lists (park-adjusted, need to delete "\tables" folder in OOTP custom data folder, can be found via Settings dialog -> Troubleshooting -> Open folder containing customizable data")
- Fixed last 10 calculation for rescheduled games
- In Find a Player, added ability to only include "hometown" players, as well as search by award wins
- Fixed issues with 3D ball flight
- Updated Opening Day rosters (need to start new game for changes to apply)
- Fixed several minor bugs + text issues

Final thoughts
This update wraps up the development of OOTP 16. We may release another maintenance patch later this summer, but in general we're now shifting to OOTP 17 development No rest for the wicked!

I have viewed videos of ootp 16 and the ball flight may as well be eliminated. Compared to action pc baseball (even the real early versions)... The ball flights in this game are rudimentary. I do not understand why a game with this much custimization. Including face gen and tons of other innovations, has such a rudimentary ball flight simulation. Watching the ball and interaction of the players "is" baseball, and even with text to speech, without this interaction.... The other eye candy stuff does nothing for true immersion. This is why the high reviews of this game are so puzzling to me. Your game, in all other aspects, beats action pc baseball by miles. However, all those bells and whistles cannot compare to the on field animation of action pc baseball. Not only is the ball flight animation fluid, but the fielding, runner movement, and even the throwing is animated.....and this game is a fraction of the size of ootp 16. If your game even came close to this, I would not hesitate to buy it. However, how immersive is spread sheet watching?

Have you played the game or only watched videos?

With this one post you have proven you don't understand the scope of OOTP. This is a career\baseball world simulation first. Eye candy is just that, eye candy. Try to wrap you mind around the fact a game can be the best looking ever but if the underlying engine isn't realistic you have nothing.

Their game is a fraction of the size of OOTP with "realistic"(?) movement? What does that tell you about the engine running the important part of the game? You know how players are created, perform, age, moved up through the minor leagues, traded, waived, DFA'd, put on rehab assignment, negotiate contracts etc. etc. etc. Shall I go on? In other words how real is action pc's career game? Let me reverse your question..

How can a game like action pc with such awesome eye candy not also have the realistic baseball world that OOTP presents?

I would ask how immersive is replaying seasons at $20 per. I've played easily 1000 years of non-replay fictional and several hundred historical seasons several times over for one price.

This is like comparing an apple to a buffet table.

Because I play a 48 game season from April to July service time is lower - I have had a few players win Rookie of the Year twice. Am I missing the old setting I used to have of setting the amount of games for service time????

It's under Financials. I have had this also in Short Season leagues like yours when i forgot to move it from default 172 days to lower.

a) Strict Rotation not Strict :-(
b) 3-game playoffs does not get an MVP with a sweep
c) OOPS - Forgot this one - custom schedule does not carry over from season to season

a fellow OOTPer provided a pretty comprehensive list of other issues....
