Transactions not showing up on player page

I am replaying a season using historical transactions as they occured. I wanted to sign a guy and put him into the minor leagues. When I do, I can't get the transaction to show up anywhere on his page or the league's player. I was hoping when I clicked on history it would now appear on his page and when I click on the league it would show up as a transaction. But I can't get it to work. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Using Historical Transactions means you are not supposed to be able to make any manual a-historical transactions. So you can't/shouldn't be able to sign anybody as they might be needed in a later historical transaction.

Is there a way to turn on and off historical transactions after you've already started an historical replay? I'm on January 4th of the season I'm replaying.
