Trying to establish some parity

In my 43-year old league, I was able to get away with having a relatively-balanced league for a while, but just recently the San Francisco Timberwolves have gone berzerk. They had over a $400M payroll in 1942 and won 119 games (but were upset in the playoffs), and then they spent even more, I think their payroll is like $450M now. They won 118 games this year (1943), and I'm just before Game 7 of the WS that they will be playing. When I look at the front office tab, they have plenty of money for even more free agents next year, although they're losing maybe 20 WAR to free agency in the upcoming offseason.

So, what are some strategies I could use to stop this from continuing? Having "San Fran against the world" every year wouldn't be very fun. I was thinking of moving another team to San Fran to compete with them, would that work? I tried a salary cap in another league but for some reason it didn't really work (maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to kick in?).

My league already has had four rounds of the playoffs since its inception, but when a team is this good having four best-of-seven series for them to win is like lining up four tissues for artillery fire to go through.

Hi BoSoxFan! I heard in this forum that even if you put 2 team in the same city, the game won't recognize it as the same city. So it only does the same thing as if you expand to another city with the same setting . So you could put 20 team in San Francisco and it wouldn't change anything.

Have you tried to share the income? Depending on how drastic you want team to have the same budget, you can set to make teams with really high income sharing most of it.

In my league, I wanted some parity too and put a 35% income sharing. So I have team that will pay 20-30 millions/year and others getting it. It works great for me.

You could also set your league to have the same media contract. It would help a lot!
